Pretty crazy to see something 100 years ago on our phones, better yet it's still entertaining

So cute. Even a child, I thought a cartoon Charlie would have made a great '70s Saturday morning cartoon series.

Never knew Charlie Chaplin has a cartoon before that CGI series.

I guess we can add precursor to the huge number of Celebrity based cartoons like the Beatles' Yellow Submarine, Jackie Chan Adventures and Mike Tyson Mysteries to the list of Charlie Chaplin's achievements.

How great! I've seen the bit at 1:25 in a Chaplin documentary, so thanks for putting this entire cartoon up! I will buy these AP DVDs for sure!

Frankie, thanks so much! The whole point of the AP series and Kickstarter was to make these films available, and in the best possible transfers and scored properly.

The good thing about online video sharing is that these old vintage tapes can't deteriorate any further (as far as we know), so they can be preserved in their former glory for as long as we want them to be.

This short was sourced from a film element in good shape; I donated my 16mm prints to the Library of Congress so this material is in good hands now.

I believe Otto Messmer and Pat Sullivan also created Felix the Cat cartoons. :)
@silentfilmmusic8 жыл бұрын
+Tsubahi That's right! The series they did after the Chaplin toons ended was Felix.

How many Chaplin cartoons did they do in all? :) And most cartoons were more like animated comic strips with balloons and all back in those days, too.

Is this copyrighted? could bits of this be used in a video?
@silentfilmmusic3 жыл бұрын
Thanks SO much for checking and asking. The musical score is copyrighted (by me, it's my score) but the film is in the public domain.
@johnleo71063 жыл бұрын
@@silentfilmmusic thank you for your prompt response. I may use some bits of the film in a video. I’ll share the link with you. Thanks for sharing it.

No no: commuter train. Leaves town 5:15, arrives in the suburbs when it does. You might like to Google > on the 5:15 < to find the Wikipedia entry about the popular 1915 song, and then, back on Google, click on Videos to hear it.

I'm pretty sure this film would classify as racist with the cartoon style of the black character.
