Mack Sennett also made some very good talking shorts , some of which starred W.C. Fields and Bing Crosby .

It was probably the land his studios sat on, not so much as his work and the rights to it, that enabled his comfortable retirement. His original "Fun Factory" was in Echo Park at Glendale and Effie behind a Jack in the Box (now) while the facility now known as Mack Sennett Studios but then carrying Mabel Normand's name is farther up Effie at Fountain across from T.S. King middle school. Apparently there was a new studio in the Valley opened just before the talkies and the Depression hit but I want to be sure where - all my scouting is by Google Earth from the other end of the continent while there are probably people at Periscope who eat regularly at that Jack and whose kids go to that school.

Pennsylvania was the Keystone State. Were the cops named for that?
