What video did you see? He was horrible. Had been since the early 90s. Off key, little movement, boring. THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO "V.H.,"* that's undisputable, as the previously mentioned, showmanship that Dave brought was the "Uuuuuuhhh," needed to make them the best damn band in the land, AND FOR ME PERSONALLY... THEIR FIRST ALBUM, WAS WHEN I FINALLY FOUND MY "R-n-R" AH-HA MOMENT, LIKE YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.... I CAN LIVE NOW, BUT IF I HAD DIED RIGHT AT THAT MOMENT... I WAS OK WITH IT!!!! But foooorrrrrrr, Christ sake's, why did Dave have to turn into an instant ASSHOLE, OVERNIGHT???!!!!!!??? If he'd just been the mostly normal "D.L.R." for the rest of EVERYTHING THEY DID... I HONESTLY BELIEVE, THE FIRST MUSIC ACT TO ACHIEVE AND HOLD PERFECTION, BUT NOOOOO, HE PHUCKED IT ALL UP!!!!! Whatever, top comment. this made my afternoon. VH entered my life when I was a 5th grade kid with DD. The only other music I listened to at that point was RUSH with Fly By Night and Moving Pictures. Both bands taught me a lot about drums and guitar, but RUSH was a little harder to beat in terms of maintaining progressive ends in the face of syntagmatic modulation, which having a professor on the drum kit made me understand that I too would someday need to put down the guitar and become a professor in art that played the drums well enough to get the admiration of other drummers, even if it were fleeting. There aren’t a lot of people that say their fav drummer is AVH, but I think that’s because there’s a rule about having a guitarist and a drummer that are both favs in the same band.
