Great idea, I love the idea of carrying them with me shopping. I’m actually gong to goodwill with my friend today who doesn’t have favorites arms holes and we are going to try on garments until we fine her favorites and then compare them to the templates. This works great for someone that doesn’t have a particular armhole that they like.

Peggy, I love your methods, they have actually changed my sewing life. Given me the confidence to clone clothes, I have even made my own waterfall sweater from no pattern now. I appreciate your hard work on teaching us the Armhole equals the Sleeve techniques, they Changed my life. I never before ever had any sleeves fit me well because I have a rather broad shoulder. Men's t'shirts fit me very well in the shoulder, that is how broad my shoulders are. Add to that, my bust is two different cup sizes and always have been, and I am a rectangle shape with very little difference between bust waist and hip. I am a 44a&b 43W 45H Trying to find clothes that fit nicely isn't as difficult as if I were a different shape, but forever have tight waists if I fit to bust or hip in RTW because of their hour glass shapes. Sewing for me is medatative, Sewing Clothings for me in the past, was nothing but frustration Now I am sewing and designing for myself as well as my Plus sized daughter with a very large Bust size, and she is also a rectangle. Our fronts are often the same size as our backs, due to our broad shoulders, minus my daughters bust size of course. But now I look at patterns and clothes with a very different viewpoint. Thank you sew much Peggy. You did teach this old dog new tricks and I am a runaway train now.

Ms. Sager I just want to take a minute to say thank you for all the help you have given to myself and I am certain,of many formally and self taught sewers. I am 64 and have been sewing since I was a kid of 10. But somehow I found you on PBS. You came on at 6a.m., but I watched faithfully. I have learned more in the 3/4 years of watching your videos than during my entire sewing life. You have done a great service to all of we self taught sewers. P.S. can you please do the actual measuring of the sleeve, cap to circumference to create the sleeve and the same for the armhole? Thank you in advance.

You have simplified so many sewing processes. I love all your videos. The armhole template is a great tool. I made all my sleeve heads based on the template idea and this has changed my sleeve sewing so much. I love using sleeves now. And they fit well. I love my set of armhole templates thank you Peggy. Quick question…if I want to make a sleeveless with knit fabric, do I use the sleeveless template or the knit template? Seems a dumb question I know, but I think I’ve over-thought this thing and now I’m in a pickle, lol. If any other subscribers can help, that would be great too. Many thanks xx

If you have sloping shoulders,you do that adjustment before putting the armhole template to the pattern

Thank you for this great explanation of the importance of armhole fit! I’d like to start building my own set of favorite armholes, bodices, etc. and I’m happy to buy one of your patterns as a start-which is a good first one to start with? I like both knits and wovens so will eventually need both.

My confusion is that I don’t think front and back armholes are the same...they’re not shaped the same...especially if you have forward shoulders. If I’m right, how do I find my back armhole shape and measurement?

We have both front and back templates...there are two for each armhole, the front and the back...

You probably know the answer by now, but just incase: the notes on the sleeveless template explains that 3/8" seam allowances are already included. Happy sewing.
