XTool S1 40W Laser: First Engrave, Score and Cut for Beginners

Thank you for the vid. Question: Score, Engrave, Cut are not available when I select an object. Is this because I am not connected to a machine?

It's likely because the object you've selected is not a vector image (like an SVG), and instead, a bitmap image (like a JPEG or PNG)

When changing the material from “reference” to the actual material, did you already have all the different materials available in the drop-down menu? I only see “Reference” and “Manual Setting” as options. Thank you!

Yes I did have some. For some reason xTool did not pre load any material settings in the software for the S1. I have no idea why b/c there are some for the M1 and P2.

hi there! This was helpful! But Im still getting burnt edges around the wood and the cutting and scoring is not clean. I have the riser base installed and I am wondering if this is the reason why I am still getting char around the wood? Do you think I should remove the riser base?

Hey i saw a xtool ig video where they printed a tshirt using s1 laser printer can this printer also do this? I am confused its a laser cutter printer and when i am searching about printing in tshirt using this machine i cant find any tutorial?

HI the xTool S1 is a laser cutter and engraver, not a printer. Perhaps they were using the screenprint attachment in the video you saw.

The S1 is not a printer. The M1 Ultra has the ability to print

I'm currently looking to buy a 40w with a camera, which would you recommend? I want something that's simple to use ,mostly for engraving and cutting would. Ps i like to use hardwood not the cheap bass wood stuff from stores like michaels.

Not sure what the difference is between engraving and scoring. When and why is scoring an option?

Scoring is laser engraving a single line and engraving is filling in the shape with the burn of the laser.

Great video, it gave me hope until......I got to the part of setting the distance on my brand new S1. It will not measure the distance. All the suggestions they give don't apply. I haven't been able to do one single project. I can't get Xtool to help either.

Unless xTool changed it, you are supposed to position the honeycomb all the way down (not up) in the right hand corner.
