I find it damn hard to believe that the mold going between thall the legs and belly and ground just stayed together so perfectly while casting after having to be cut/torn to get the original out.

theres an elasticity to it returning to place. it wont always align perfectly (more noticeable with transparent casts) but this does work

Very informative video, thank you! Quick question, I am working on a project where I would like to make custom chess pieces. But I would like to add a bit more weight to the final product. I had an idea to fill the mold 3/4 full, add a lead fishing sinker or something, then pour the last 1/4 over the top so that it's concealed inside. Do you think this may work?

Can we use a pressure pot for this method to eliminate bubbles?

Yes a pressure pot will reduce any air bubbles. You will want to ensure that your mold is made under pressure as well. If the mold isn't made under pressure and cause issues.

di you need to degas the silicon? or pressurize the cast? also how the did the mold stay in shape with that cut in it? i would have thought that the liquid would push that part of the mold outwards

Quick question: can we go more in depth about the dowel (vent). Does this dowel stay in the mold? It didn’t look like it required a ton of touch up or sanding where it made contact.

The dowel is removed from the mold when the casting is removed. This forms the air channel.

Can you reuse the mold? What about that initial slit on the side? Is the silicone sturdy enough to not have to secure the cut when you pour in the plaster or did you repair it with tape or glue?

Yes, this is a mold used for multiple castings. The mold should be held together with rubber bands or similar.

Another video I watched similar to this one indicated that their product was not naturally waterproof. Is this product waterproof?

The urethane material that is poured into the mold will be waterproof as it is plastic.
