Chile my mom and her sisters were straight naturals growing up and they're in their 60's-70's now. I wish they had internet back then to show their regimen because their hair was so full and beautiful!

All I want to know is how you keep it straight for more than an hour or so when it is humid . My hair would shrink even with the relaxer.
@sable71147 ай бұрын
Thanks for going over the products that you use to keep your straight hair healthy and to maintain that look for a few weeks. I understand what the Color Wow Dream Coat does but once it prevents moisture from penetrating, do you feel that it also prevents your oil or moisturizers from penetrating until the next shampoo? I'm particularly concerned about that since it says it will protect your hair from that moisture acting as a raincoat for 3 to 4 additional shampoos. That's a long time not to have moisturized hair

I would love to attempt this but I live in a humid environment. I would love for y’all Str8 hair naturals to explain how y’all get through a humid/ summer environment…

Yeah I’ve gotten the straight silt already when I’m in the house but as soon as I step outside it’s like static touched my hair. It still flows but it’s not flat flat how it was in the house
@KrysNicholle6 ай бұрын
After you press hair, you must wrap it & put a plastic cap on, then sit under a hooded dryer for 10 minutes on the medium cool setting. This closes the hair cuticle and prevents hair from swelling as much from the humidity.

Your hair is beautiful! Great video. To answer the question about silk press vs. flat iron: a silk press is a specific technique used on kinky curly hair for a weightless, flowy result. The process of taking tightly curled hair to straight and silky is a silk press. The process that our grandmothers used with the hot comb and grease on natural kinky/curly hair was just called a press. When using a flat iron on relaxed hair or naturally straight hair to get a smooth, straight look, it is just called flat ironing. I've seen videos going around saying, "Silk Press on relaxed hair." But there is no such thing as pressing hair that's already straight. They can press out their roots, however, if they have a lot of new growth. I work at a hair salon chile, so I'm always asking questions, lol.

Hi. I’m a new subscriber and I love your channel. Your hair is gorgeous. I am a straight natural too. When I wore my hair curly it only grew to my shoulders, but now that I am a straight natural my hair is down to almost my hips. Straight natural is healthy ladies. Don’t let people scare you into thinking that it’s not good for you. I go to the salon to get my silk press, but I want to start doing it myself. Can you please do a video about how to begin silk pressing your hair and how to be confident that you can do it the right way so there is no heat damage. I bought a Chi Titanium and ceramic flat iron that has a digital temperature control so that I can control the heat on it. I just need the confidence to be able to do it myself. You mentioned that you color your hair and wondered if you are still natural. The answer is yes you are still a natural with coloring your hair. What makes someone not natural anymore is when they do something to break and change the chemical bonds in your hair like a relaxer or a keratin treatment. Hair color does not break down the bonds in your hair to change the curl pattern so naturals who color are still considered natural. ❤️

Aw thank you so much for subscribing! Welcomeee! And yesss I figured I was still considered natural but with all these new rules and stipulations they like to put on what is natural you can never be too sure lol

@@ZeneseAshley You’re welcome. Since I posted that comment I did some more research and I decided to get a CHI digital ceramic flat iron because I have read and seen in multiple places people saying that people who are new to flat ironing their hair and people who want to be safe should use ceramic flat irons instead of a titanium one.

Yes! I tried to keep everything listed in order! I typically wash my hair every 3 weeks.. and I try to use the Olaplex treatment at least every other wash! If I used any additional heat on my hair after my initial straighten then I’ll use it for sure to help make sure I don’t suffer from any heat damage.

Silk press is the older of the two and most ppl are not getting g ailk presses lol silk presses use Marcel curlers and THEN flat irons if you choose. Old stylists used Marcels then wrapped the hair with plastic wrap and sat you under the dryer for 5-10. The results was hair that literally fell like silk. IYKYK

Your hair is beautiful!! You shouldn't use a clarifying shampoo every shampoo. when you do use a clarifying shampoo, follow with a shampoo that's not a clarifier. The olaplex # 0 should be left on for 10 minutes only, then the # 3 for 10 minutes. When you condition your hair...rinse will cool water to close that cuticle. When you flat iron or curl your hair... you're opening that cuticle back up... after you finish curling wrap & sit under a cool dryer to close that cuticle back up... I had to break the science down. I'm a licensed Cosmetologist & instructor. Oh & oil does not moisturize your hair. The sebum from your sebaceous glands bassist conditions your hair. You should never oil your scalp. You will eventually end up with scalp infections....yeast will form.

Silk press is a long intentional and informed process that turns your hair silky smooth, not kinky straight, lol. Flat ironing is kinky straightening your hair with heavy products and oils, which essentially fry the hair. So no, we do not flat iron and use greasy stuff. Lol.
