I am old school and grew up with the pressing comb and the curling iron. My hair was long and always looked very nice and fluffy. The hair styles today with the flat iron is NEVER styled to me. The curls look loosely twisted and they fall with straight ends. Hair styles look the same and unprofessional. I truly miss the Hair Stylist from the 80s and 90s!!!

I rather do my own hair charging over $100 for a $40 style. Get Aveda blow out crème less that a dot for each section , Chi flat irons and blow dry real straight before iron section hair in tiny section less than mm that’s what they call a silk press use heat protectant and deep condition after shampoo ❤ stay blessed

The final touch should be wrapping the hair and covering it with Saran wrap under warm dryer for 5 min. It's amazing what it does to hair. Pure silk

I still consider it a blow dry & flat iron. To me, a silk press is roller set, round brush, flat iron then wrap & comb down. It’s not the same thing in my opinion.

This is wrong. A silk press is not a “technique”. It is a “process” that includes adding moisture into the hair and sealing it. The only difference you just stated is adding the blow dryer to it. Yes, that’s part of the process but the bigger part of the process is steaming the hair with moisturizer and oil And sealing it. when a silk press is done right on healthy hair, it don’t matter if it’s humid outside or a drop of water lands on your head. your hair will stay straight. My last silk pressed lasted three weeks before I washed my hair and I live in South Florida..

They used to call it silk press on relaxed hair as well. This term was around decades ago, when most salons did not service natural hair due to lack of experience. Terms have different meanings now, for whatever reason. So confusing. Now, so many call all damaged or extremely dry hair as having split ends, even when there are no splits.🤪
