Chilean national salad is the... Chilean salad, which is sliced tomato with thinly sliced onion (just those two and it counts as Chilean salad). It's usually topped with chopped cilantro and diced green hot chili peppers. I personally like it with all of that and some slices of cucumber. Neutral oil and salt.

Personally I think onions taste wonderful I use them to add flavor to a lot of things when I cook but they have almost the exact texture of a sweet fruit or something watery like celery so it throws it off for me and I hate it.
