I'd refreshed YT a few times because there wasn't anything interesting to watch and was about to sleep until I saw this. lol. An Ode is still one of the best svt era for me. Fear is a total masterpiece. I was overwhelmed when I first watched it. I kinda held my breath throughout the mv. AHAHAHAHAHHAHA from the bridge to the last chorus, it felt like the mv and everything that was going on took my soul.

Last year I found out that some people found 'Fear' disappointing and is a weak title track of SVT. I just find it fascinating, the contrasting opinions/reviews I've seen about this song I mean. They sure do have a point but as I am just a casual music enjoyer, my opinion about fear being a great song still stands.

Although I love every seventeen song, I must Fear is one of my ultimate favorite. The depth of message and intensity of emotions is really conveyed through the music, vocals, WELL-WRITTEN LYRICS, atmosphere of the mv and even in their performances. I'm really in awe especially how they creatively wrote and came up with those lyrics about inner fears, insecurities, toxic relationships, unconditional and destructive love which really hits hard. By the way, An Ode is really a masterpiece. They actually won Album of the Year in that album.

When i was a Baby Carat, Fear was the one the one that ruined me the most. Till now i guess since its my fave MV of theirs. I remember feeling how it was just a rollercoaster of choosing/swapping biases the whole video🥴 if a solo stan carat still isnt an ot13 bias after watching fear, well.. 🤷🏻‍♀️

On a more serious note, (I wasn't a carat during fear era), but from what I've seen and heard, though Fear era served the long awaited darkteen concept that Carats have been asking for for soo long, it really impacted the members' mental health to perform such a dark song (They've never gone back to darkteen since then. Fear was the first and last.) It seems they wrote the song while in a dark place during their break after the Japan tour (Accdg to Hao, some members were in a dark place mentally during this time, which was when he started meditation.) And some fans said that during music shows, SVT used to chat and joke around with the fans during pre-recording, but during Fear era, they apologized because they could not hype Carats because they had to get into the mood/enter the zone for Fear. Ofc, shortly after they started the Ode to You tour where Coups had to go into hiatus. When he came back, it was to film Snap Shoot 5th anniv special video (which is such a happy song), then they went -> Fallin' Flower -> Left n Right/Henggarae era (Fearless to counter Fear, Kidult, etc) -> 24H -> Semicolon for mental health. I'm almost certain they had an interview saying that they wrote Fear for Carats (as they do all songs), so I'm sure Fearless was towards carats too... And much as I love darkteen, knowing now how much some members immerse themselves in the concept, I'm glad we're sticking to happyteen and freshteen, sexyteen, rockteen concepts... 😭😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️ (Disclaimer: This is just my personal thoughts on things.)
