For me the character Bernard is carrying the story right now, i want to hate him but he is the only thing standing between 10.000 people and the toxic air outside

Bernard has the right intent to save everyone by stopping the rebellion but his approach is heavy handed and by the book. It also just might work but the rebellion will still get outta hand and I think Jules will come back just in time to stop the rebellion and side with Bernard.

My biggest gripe with the show & books is that space between the stairs & levels, why would a designer"Douglas" put such a massive gap in an underground structure? He would of made use of space far better imo... It's not like it's letting in day light so why???😊

it’s a political metaphor. The stairs represent control as walking up the stairs slows information and rebellion

I really didn’t like this episode. I have read the books but it’s not because it did or didn’t keep to the books. I just thought there was a lot of stuff that happened in this episode that was illogical not to mention that the acting in the series can be a bit mid. I didn’t particularly have an issue with the mushrooms but what made no sense to me was, he has just poisoned her, he asked her for information, and she acts like she’s the one in a position of weakness who needs to blurt it out at him when the natural consequence of him poisoning her would be for her to say screw you, I’m telling you nothing. And then it turns into some Wholesome moment where he shows her VR while she dies when she should be lived with him. It was nonsensical, I also. Think the actor who play Sims is a bit too far over the top in his acting, but he surrounded by people who are too far the other way and it’s just a really weird unbelievable dynamic in my opinion. I like the concept of the show, I love the books, but the show doesn’t do subtlety or coherent backstory very well. This episode in particular really highlighted that for me. There’s too many, “fuck off, as if that would happen” moments for me in this one.

That was a really disappointing episode, and I still cant believe the twist(but in a bad way). One of the best characters and most interesting possible outcomes but instead just ended like that. I think this episode was the worst of the series..

Agree. I’ve read the books, and it’s not because it did or didn’t keep to the books, but I find a lot of the set ups and payoffs in terms of the drama to be illogical and some of the acting is pretty mid. The mushroom scene in particular annoyed me. Not so much that it happened but he poisons her, he has lied to her, and then she acts like she’s the one backed into a corner that gives him information he desperately wants when in any real situation she would’ve told him to go screw himself. And then they have a wholesome moment with VR while she dies. It’s beyond unbelievable. Never mind that the Sims character is so over the top and obvious that it’s beyond annoying how nobody sees right through his crap because it’s so unbelievably bad in its delivery. Makes it very hard to suspend your disbelief. It’s kind of like six characters in the entire silo are deep and have more going on and the other 10,000 are completely dumb mindless drones, and it just makes the whole thing kind of juvenile and one dimensional when It could be really exciting. It’s jumped straight to Game of Thrones season eight when it should be taking a leaf out of Game of Thrones season one.

@@tajaemartin2251 not really, the set up delivery and pay off of a lot of the interactions particularly inside 18 was illogical and hard to believe. I’ve got no problem with the concept of him killing her with the mushrooms or them trying to frame mechanical for killing her, but the entire way it is set up and executed let alone the questionable acting just makes it swing and miss. In my opinion anyway. You’re going to poison me with mushrooms after backstabbing me on everything that you haven’t done for me, and then you’re going to ask me questions that you desperately want the answers to, and I’m going to have some half hearted attempt to not tell you, only to tell you anyway as though I’m the one backed into a corner, one in any real situation the person who is dying Would tell Bernard to go screw himself because of what he has done to her. And then they have a wholesome moment of virtual reality while she dies it’s just stupidity. Even the framing of mechanical, I don’t particularly have a problem with it, but they come all the way up the stairs, take Bernard at his word when they have no reason to do so, let them off the hook, get obviously framed, then Sims comes out who has one of the most over the top acting Experiences in the entire show and everybody around him is just a mindless drone who believes absolutely everything he says. There’s just way too many fuck off as if that would happen moments. The show doesn’t do subtlety very well at all which is a shame.

I have largely liked the season so far but I think this is the weakest episode. Too many absolutely illogical things happened mixed with some pretty mediocre acting. There was way too many moments where I looked at the TV and said, fuck off, as if that would happen. That’s not what I want from my science-fiction. The mushroom scene is beyond dumb, not because he poisoned her, but he poisons her, and then she divulge his information that he wants after she knows that he has killed her, and she acts like she’s the one being interrogated that is in the position of weakness, and then they have a wholesome VR moment while she dies. That just wouldn’t happen. The other big one was mechanical has been talking for several episodes about how they can’t trust Bernard and what is going on, they even plan to go up the stairs in the most subtle non-aggressive way showing that they have some subtlety when it comes to their plan, And after all of that, they take his word at face value that he’ll let them see the judge if they turn the power back on, which is the most obvious crap ever, and they bend, then they get framed for killing her, and Sims goes out and does that so obviously over the top acting performance once again And all the mindless drones around swallow it Hook, Line and Sinker. It’s just illogical. There’s no subtlety.

@@conors4430 since you red the books can you tell me if it did at least follow the books or why they didnt explain some things like why did he poisoned her instead of letting her go outside and die outside ? or why didnt meadows just say the secret ... if I know I would die anyway why not just say it ? was that secret so important ? is it explained in the books ? also why would the people always go against the mechanical ? what would they gain if they kill mechanical people ? who would run the fucking silo ? Nothing made sense to me in this episode ... the last 3 episode were completely logical to me - this one had zero logic in it. A couple of other things : how the fuck Solo just forgot the code 2 times and remember it the third time ? What did juliette accomplished by going to the other side of the water ? She just came back with new clothes and that was it .... for what purpose ? WHy know just agreed to turn the power on before seeing meadows - he should have done the opposite ... he became brain dead all of a sudden ? I thought he was smarter than that ... I would have never agreed to see meadows by turning back the power first - it's ridiculous .... and the list goes on and on - worse episode of the series for me because nothing makes sense
