Owned Silpheed since 1999 and finally beat that final boss last night!!! Turns out all the times i failed over the years i just needed to last 5 more seconds for the boss to die!!

Mega CD was great. I never owned Silpheed back then but anything by Core Design was awesome. One of the few developers to take advantage of the hardware.

Yeah Silpheed is really incredible. And I think the Sega CD gets a bad wrap. Android Assault is another great game on the Mega CD. I think Mega CD sounds cooler than Sega CD. hah

to be fair, night trap now has some value as the prototype for five nights at freddy's

As a primarily video game watcher, I appreciate this existential breakdown of something that Ive been trying to put my finger on. For the watcher, its gotten boring too, trite. This stuff was innovative, yes the gameplay for Night Trap was awful, but it required work to get thru it and the story was just entertainingly bad to want to see to the end. Sub from me too. Keep the existential game content coming. We have criticism, breakdowns, top lists, hacks, how to beat.... but yours is the first like this. Hence this long ass comment of encouragement.

I'm the opposite I like my games fairly easy to the point where you won't get stuck anywhere and can play through the whole game. I used to hate games from the 80's and early 90s that were ridiculously difficult where I would get to a certain point then never beat it I would just give up and never play it again. Even sometimes if I would finally beat a really difficult part it made me not want to play that part of the game again because of the stress involved. In the early/mid 90s I used to call the video game helplines a lot I remember spending 50 dollars getting tips to beat Discworld on PS1. My mom was not happy with her phone bill.

Also, recently I actually played through Eiyuden Chronicles. A friend of mine recommended it, and it’s not very difficult at all, it’s like an old school jrpg. And honestly I had a blast with it. I highly recommend it.

Here's the thing. and you may disagree with it. BUt every genre needs entry level games to get people into them. You do not have entry level games then the genre tends to go away. Look at RTS as an example

@@TheHiddenFortress81 Not every game needs to kick your butt at all times to be good too and just because a game has a good a story with good cinematics doesn't mean its pointless. People like different things for different reasons. Point and click adventure games hardly have any gameplay and instead focus on the adventure itself. People love them. Mass Effect has an amazing story with less focus on gameplay. Is reguarded as one of the best game series of that era. Just because it wasn't challenging for you doesn't mean there was no meaning in the game. Metal Gear on the PS1 is an easy game, was the game meaningless?
@TheHiddenFortress81Ай бұрын
@ Well, here’s the thing. It means that games where there is little to no actual struggle are somewhat meaningless to ME often. Doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy them occasionally. I feel, that modern AAA games have to be all inclusive to maximize sales. So games have become very easy. You never lose. You have endless continues, and to me, that’s become boring. If you can’t actually lose is it a game? And, there’s a lot of people who share that sentiment. Now, Metal Gear Solid 1. I dont really feel like that’s a particularly easy game. However, for me personally, I haven’t felt the need or want to play it in a long time, so it might be easy, but I don’t know that it is. I recall dying a lot while playing it. That’s just me. People want to win. I get it. I personally don’t mind losing. Also I feel many of the point and click adventure games are pretty cool. They just don’t seem to be what I personally play. And I made it a point to leave them out of the video. So I didn’t comment on them at all. I don’t dislike games that try to tell a story but I feel like a video game should be a video game. And the more they become more like a marvel movie the less interested I am in them. I’m there for the game part. That’s just me I guess. I feel like a story should be abstract and unobtrusive to the gameplay like in a Dark Souls, or a Diablo 2. Never said cinematics make the game “bad”. If you play through Metal Gear Solid again right now, that would be a real meaningful experience to you? Good. There’s nothing wrong with that. But I believe, that somebody who grinds hundreds of hours to 1 credit clear an arcade shmup, and achieves that, has a more meaningful experience accomplishing that, then playing through Metal Gear in a couple nights. I don’t think I said a game with a story is pointless. I think what I’m trying to say is a game should have teeth. Or for me it becomes kinda boring. In fact. I even said, I think Silpheed is really easy, but I still kinda love it.
@WolfstanusАй бұрын
@@TheHiddenFortress81 Ia int reading all that chief. You're basically saying "The games are pointless" thats what meaningless means. Because they didn't meet your very narrow view. The fact you argue to triviality on games because its not the hardest thing you faced is... Silly. I have over 2k physical video games going back to 1979. Spanning almost every genre one can think of. About Metal Gear... Metal gear was always a non challenging game. By your own logic the game was meaningless from launch. The game was meaningless because it had a story, it was meaningless because it had cinematics, It was meaningless because you didn't earn credits, you didn't grind it, and you didn't earn live and you had saves. From launch by your own logic it was a pointless game by your own reasoning.
