As an 11 yr old, in 1971, my Daddy took our family up to Silver City. It was amazing then. We could tour inside the buildings, and even entered one of the mines, part of the way, as it was safer, back then. We even found some rocks with a little Silver in them, that were just laying on the ground. My Daddy was stationed in Mountain Home AFB, thus, he took us on a lot of historical adventures and fun trips. We drove up to Silver City in his '62 Cadillac....and it was scary, as the dirt road was more narrow, less maintained, and only one car could fit on the road, at that time....lol. No guard rails, at key points on the road, made it scary....lol. I can still remember the old wood and history....the smells of each building. And the cemetery...wow, I could feel the spirits there....at 11 years old. Still feel them, in every historical place I visit. Sometimes they make me so nauseous, I have to leave. Lol. Just an FYI.....the music is very inappropriate....too boofified. Lol Thanks for the video, and memories.

As a boy in the 60's, my Granddad had a mine not far from Silver City. Always has been my favorite place to explore. The old hotel is fun, had many a beer at the bar. You gave me the itch, I gotta go back. Silver City Days I'll be there.

Very nice video, bringing up sweet memories! As an exchange student from Germany, I visited Silver City together with both my hostparents and real parents in the summer of '82. Being a 16yo teenager and Nampa High School Graduate (with Golden Seal 🙂) back then, I vividly remember this enthusiatical and focused long-haired guy restoring a bar and a doctor's room within the building. Maybe it was the Idaho Hotel, but I can't recall that. Unfortunately, all pictures (there were literally tons of them) and video footage taken there were lost in a fire caused by a shortcut only three years ago. Silver City is still a special and very memorable place for me!!! Please do updates on this historical site.... (I beg your pardon for any spelling or grammar mistakes I might have made!)
