I hunted a Old Logging Town North West of Frederick took out over 300 silver. This was Back in 1974. It used to be unbelievable what was in the woods back then

That’s insane! I have hunted a few logging camps, and found a few nice items but nothing that good. Congrats.

What an awesome property to detect. One thing I do when on an "OLD" spot; open the original hole, and just keep spiraling out with the pinpointer and shovel. The halo/iron bias will fool even the best machine. Go back there; slow it down even more; and needle that spot. Way to find it brother.
@Eric_Detectorist4 ай бұрын
That’s a great suggestion. I have used this technique in heavy iron spots but could be worth trying here as well.

@@Eric_Detectorist thanks,learning the minelab extreme pro,so anything about what things should register under regular conditions would be a great help when your filming video but,I've learned from other diggers ,gotta dig just about everything, Nathan.

Subbed! Love fur trade stuff. I found a few period relics when I lived along the Mississippi in Iowa. The late 16/early 17 French button you dug is killer. I have a site down here along the gulf coast where I have dug a handful of those. Excellent. I have found some “colonie Francois” coppers as well. Man you are ON IT in that spot though!!

I have done some coastal Mississippi hunts it’s nice and sandy, but the plant growth is tough. Thanks for the sub and good luck out there.

You can use 1/2 bee's wax / 1/2 linseed oil to preserve your iron.

Eric have you ever dug a Fur Trade silver ring? If so does it have a maker's mark? I mentioned on your last video I had dug one but mine has no marks but has Native designs. I've read many smaller trade pieces were never marked? Thanks!
@Eric_Detectorist4 ай бұрын
Yes I have a handful of silver fur trade era rings, and none are marked. You are correct typically only larger items were marked due to the larger size of the makers mark stamp. Congrats on your find.

You nailed it. The hole with two broaches had iron in it and the sound was only one way. I was expecting a pull tab. By you never know for sure until you dig.

Not horribly, most areas I hunt aren’t very buggy. Lucky for me. Poison ivy is my biggest nemesis.
