Silver Dollar City Christmas 2024 | An Old Time Christmas

Last year I visited December 27th. At first I was really disappointed because many of the rides were shut down because of the weather but I did find a few still open including the old "Fire In The Hole" ride. Then after dark the Christmas lights were awesome. Near the end of the tram ride there was a performance where "Grandpa" told the Christmas story and that was the first time it really felt like Christmas to me last year. 275 mile drive but it was worth it!

Glad that your visit ended up positive. We agree with you that the Christmas season at SDC is probably better if you go into it not expecting to be on all of the rides with short lines. But the other things to do at SDC during Christmas are the best that they have in park all year. Thank you for watching!

To me, Old Time Christmas is the best festival at SDC! I wait all year to get an apple dumpling with cinnamon ice cream, amazing. My daughter and son in law were at the City the same day you were, I was watching for them in the video, a very long shot at best. No luck. 😂 My own advice to everyone is don't let a little rain keep you from going to the park, the Christmas lights reflecting off the wet pavement is magical.

The tree lighting is at 5:30 PM. They then have a light show with the tree called Joy on Town Square every 15 minutes after that.

Absolutely Outstanding From Start To Finish // Absolutely Loved Every Second. Am I correct there are no places to eat within a 20 minute walk from this park like Dollywood?? Thanks in advance

Silver Dollar City is pretty secluded and offers a bunch of food options within the park itself. It would be a very long walk just to go from the parking lot back to the main road. There are many other places to eat within a few minutes drive of the SDC entrance though. Lera Family Farm is right up the road and they have some very good Mexican food at Chubby's Taco Shop. There are a bunch of restaurants towards the back end of the 76 strip as well. Or some people like to avoid Branson and head to Branson West (separate town). Branson West offers a few restaurants and fast food options.

Honestly, it depends on your definition of experience everything. If you are wanting to do every ride and every show, etc, then it is very hard to get it all done in one day (especially with how busy it is right now). If you are more wanting to leave the park and think you got everything done that you really wanted to, then if you are there from open to close, you will leave with that feeling as long as you approach it knowing what you want to accomplish and plan ahead. This enables you to free up another day to see other things in Branson as well.

What time is the parade in the evening? And is it only on selected days?

The parade usually takes place twice per day during each operating day of the park, weather permitting. The parades usually take place at 6PM and 8PM. We hope your family is able to enjoy SDC and all of the Christmas activities here!

When is the best time to ride the train with smallest line?

The first couple of trains ran is a great time to hop on for daylight riding. If you want to ride at night, and don't care to see the parade, then the line will be the shortest generally speaking during parade times or immediately after the parade. Just remember the last train departs about 30 minutes before park closing time usually.

Ok, slightly off-topic question here: we are considering buying a 2025 season pass now due to all of the benefits and low prices. Do you guys know if we can use all of the guest tickets on the same day? (I'm aware that they have certain dates for those tickets.) If I'm reading this correctly, we can get 9 more tickets with 1 Diamond pass! Thanks in advance!

You are reading it correctly. It is normally 8 BAF tickets, but they are offering an extra one for diamond pass purchases at the moment. We know about the date restrictions and that the season pass holder must be there when the BAF ticket is being used. We think that you can use them on the same day, but we are not 100% sure. It would probably be best to call their customer support and double check before trying.
