This us really similar to the edelbahn express at sommet edelweiss in Quebec. It’s a 1987 and also has windows on the receiving end of the upper terminal. Slope edge has filmed the lift 3 different times if you’d like to see it.

Yeah I've seen several videos of that lift. Interesting how Doppelmayr had two different detachable products for Eastern and Western North America. The western lifts were all standard CLD-260 lifts (mostly with EJ chairs), while the eastern lifts had the separate drive, and plastic chairs (with a few exceptions, like Stoneham).

@@Skier72 yeah the edelweiss one runs at 2.7-3m/s, so a replacement might be in order within the next 5-10 years. The only other HSQs in our region are found at Mont Saint Marie (1991s I think).

Great video. You picked a nice day to go. I like how the terminals are open and you can see the mechanics. The Silver chair was always my favourite area when there wasn’t any crowds and when they used to have a terrain park. How was the snow? Last year the snow was horrible and the lift lines were so long we moved on to Sunshine. 2 years ago was Nakiska’s best snow from what I’ve been told and they got shut down because of COVID.

Snow was really bad. Icy in the morning, slushy in the later afternoon. But it was still fun. They had the old women's downhill ski run (the abandoned, out of bounds run that ends at the top of the Silver chair) open, so I did that one quite a bit. Apparently today they got a ton of snow, so I just missed that. But oh well.

They are pretty cool. I even got a video of the platter running for 2 ski patrol.

I don't see them replacing the lift any time soon, it runs very well. Especially for a lift from 1985, it's great. It has very minor problems. Unlike the Olympic chair because half of the chair were removed to preserve the lift longer. Either way the lift is amazing servicing great runs. Good Video!

Btw, do u know anywhere that has pictures of the old triple?
@Skier722 жыл бұрын
I thought the reason they removed half the chairs had to do with them being able to download the lift at 100% (lots of ski racer parents upload and download the lift for races). But I'm not really entirely sure of the reasoning there.

@@Skier72 i really dont know for 100 percent but I heard thats why they removed half. I feel like if they put more on, Olympic would have better lines.

@@nathanjanuszewski if you want to ride the old triple chair I believe it’s now the Polar Peak chair at Fernie. Unfortunately it’s only used a few weeks a year because the weather up there is so unpredictable.
