I'm hispanic with curly hair. You have to bleach your hair and get it white then use the pravanna hair color. I've bleached my hair and couldnt get it down to a level 10 like this girl has. Mine stayed closer to an 8 or a 9 with lots of gold. So I toned it with manic panic ultra violet mixed with snow white toner and then I put the pravanna on top. Its still not exactly what I want. There are a few tutorials on youtube with black girls who did the silver. I think one chick used roux blue steel. You still have to bleach it though.

Tamara Hardamon African black hair cannot be bleached to the point of it being white or super super blonde, if you're half white it might be possible, but honestly even if you bleach the crap out of your hair the lightest it will be is a dark-medium blonde. just get a weave is my advice :)

I'm Black and Dominican. My hair isn't the texture of a 100% African American's hair, but it is more black than Spanish texture wise (curly and thick). I have had my hair bleached platinum blonde, it can be done. I'm just trying to get as close to the silver in this tutorial as I possibly can.

zomggcats you are so very wrong. You can't do it in one sitting but it is possible. Getting hair to a level 10 has nothing to do with ethnicity but the color of the hair you're starting biff with. Anyone with black colored hair is going to have a harder time. I'm black, my natural hair is black and my hair is now a snow white base.

Tamara Hardamon your hair texture has nothing to do with anything. I'm black (Jamaican and Cuban) and my hair color has surpassed platinum. You just need to be patient and do it in stages. Please ignore the person telling you to give up and get a weave...smdh. And on another note, Dominican is not a race and people who are "100%" African don't all have the same grade of hair.

Debora Todd well actually (toni & Guy hairdressing academy graduate), technically you don't leave toners on for 15-20 min. you go by how porous the hair is. because sometimes if you leave a toner on to long it will grab the actual colour. for example if you have super light blonde hair and you use a violet. and leave it on to long then it will end up with a purple hue. so its wise to say to constantly watch your hair to see how the result is. so toner developing time will vary

Septic Midnight I dont know if you still need help but if you have never ever dyed your hair you can just put the white silver dye on your hair and thats it but if you have dyed your hair in the past than you do need to bleach it! (I am not an expert tho)

erraticsorrow For anyone reading this, dark hair would require deep conditioning and about 30 volumes of bleach, then apply the dye as she does, would strongly recommend having at least the bleaching done by a professional so you don't fry your hair 🤣

Please don't. You'll find that black dyes either have brown or green/ blue undertones. If you dilute it then it won't turn grey but more of a brown or green. Also don't mix peroxide dyes with conditioner. At least strand test.

Hi there so here's my story, a couple of months ago I went to a sucky hairstylist and I asked for a full head bleach to take my natural dirty ash blonde hair to a light silver colour! She said she would and she wasn't worried because she'd use OLAPLEX but then she didn't do what I'd asked her and she did TONS OF FOILS but left out a bunch of hair! Even stupider (and sorry I'm just mad at her xD) she started at the front. I told her "hey aren't you supposed to start at the back? Especially since the pieces in the front of my hair are both more damaged and lighter?" (my hair grows in really light at the front, idk why it's curly there too and straight everywhere else) she said noo I prefer to start at the front trust me, and I'm going to get the rest in a bleach bath- it'll come out the light white with silver dimensions. So she put heat on the foils and when she was done ( she didn't leave it on very long either) she washed it out and bleach bathed it (Only a 10 developer in the bleach bath!!) and then she toned it and in the end, the front pieces were breaking and the back was barely lightened, the parts she left out were the same colour as before she did anything but damaged and my hair was an uneven mess. We got most of our money back to put it short but that was no easy task, and they blamed the fact that my hair was shitty on the fact that my healthy hair had been box dyed (SEMI permanently) several months before! Good luck finding someone to touch this they said. So I did, I went to a girl who picked out the lighter pieces and did a full head ( except for the lighter pieces) bleach with tin foil and she used twenty volume developer no olaplex either. She was very nice and seemed knowledgeable. After that my hair was bright orange with yellow roots and darker orange lowlights, and also a few lighter yellow streaks. She toned it but then my hair was silver and gold and It didn't look amazing or what I wanted Soo here I am now with my roots freshly done and my hair has been toned with a neutral violet shade and I'm giving it another longer break. (Even though this whole process started in March but I really would like to end it off with having my hair on my head). I went to Sally's and I asked for some advice to how to get it all white silver and she said I should do a bleach bath with 30 volume developer! So my plan is to do a bleach bath on alllll of my hair and use the measurements 1 ounce 30 developer 1 ounce bleach (quick blue) 1 ounce shampoo Then quadruple it (I've got a lotta hair) And then leave it all on either until it's all the colour of the inside of a banana peel or it's getting dry. Then to tone it with the wella T18 lightest ash blonde toner ..... Ahh do you think my wishes for white/silver hair could happen with a bleach bath and tone?? I have step three olaplex and hair masks and I am trying to strengthen my hair in the meantime. Thanks so much!! :)

I realized you posted this 3 years ago or more...but I had the exact same thing happen to me! Literally!!! I don’t know if you ever got the silver that you wanted but I had to start from scratch. No hairstylist was ever able to fix that mess!!! It was always a mixture of orange, green, and silver. You’re right, it has to be a solid blonde otherwise it will look muddy, brassy, green, with some silver here and there. It looked AWFUL. Make story short, I gave up on stylists and I now do it at home. Best decision ever! I use Schwarzkopf up to 9 bleach, a 20 volume developer, olaplex, Wella 8/81 for a rooty-silver look, Wella 9/01 to “pretone” any yellow on midshafts to ends, and I mix pravana Vivids/Pastels to customize whatever Pastel/Silver I want. And my hair is in much, much better condition.

The products is called Pravana its a professional dye that you cant but over the counter its easy to get on rbay for really good prices. Ive bought most of the Vivids like Blue, Magenta and Violet etc and seriously with those colors a little goes a long way. I haven't tried the Grey but im thinking about it.
