Video of my day hike up to the top of Silver Peak (10,840 ft) in the White Mountains (California). The White Mountains are directly east of the Sierra Nevada (separated by the Owens Valley) and offer some amazing hiking at very high elevations (over 14,000 ft). Silver Peak also resides in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest which is a special place home to the oldest living known trees on Earth, the Bristlecone Pine Tree. Silver Peak is a VERY short and easy Class 1 off-trail peak to bag. You only have to drive ~2.2 miles on a well maintained gravel road (from the Schulman Grove Visitors Center) to get to a turnout where you can park your car and start the hike.
