I remember participating in the Games Workshop sponsored Baddins 13th Black Crusade, where the wolfen we're brand spanking new models. And we barely beat chaos, and saved Cadia. Now I come to find out they sacked that, reFAQ'd that, and destroyed Cadia? I was like WTF GW? Cadians have the same premise as "The First and Only". Lame AF. GW has some TotalSHIIIT Writers now. Fuck GW. I sold all of my armies when 6th dropped. Haven't spent a dime since, and good riddance. 40k is garbage now, it's Soo fucked and unbalanced. Every army is min maxed. Putting 100 power armors on the table, was and will always be the epitome of what 40k should be.

There have been suspicions for a long time that the Silver Skulls were a chapter that was used to hide the remnants of the loyalists Iron Warriors that fought alongside the Ultramarines. I still hang onto these suspicions but from what I have heard here, the Silver Skulls certainly don’t act like an Iron Warrior successor chapter.

I dont think enough of Dantioch'a troops survived to make a whole chapter. So I think their supply of geneseed was given from Gulliman and any of Perturabo's was either phased out via attrition or intention. So by the time of the fall of cadia they were true sons of gulliman. That's just headcanon of wanting to latch onto to the old mystery tho.

If I had the money, I'd make myself a small Imperial Fist, or Iron Warriors group thing. Prolly Primaris Imperial Fists honestly because there's apparently some good tactics with Imperial Fists that fits with my general fantasy of how they fight, so... Primaris just smoothly being added to the Fists makes me happy. About the only chapter that went " Yeah, sure. We'll take them. " other than the Ultramarines. Leave it to the chapters of the Emperor's best loyalist sons that could conquer worlds at alarming speeds and leave them better than when they showed up and razed them. It's why I adore the Fists. They don't just show up and ravage a world. They show up, destroy Chaos, destroy orks and then rebuild, leave a contingent behind to ensure the safety and training of the citizens there so that they might have some form of present discipline and a safeguard against chaos incursions and they leave on their continued crusades. Fists will forever be my favorite loyalists.

Just after I bought my shiny copy of RT I picked up my eagerly awaited box of 30 plastic mutlti part Beaky MK6 Space Marines and a 2 pack of Land Raiders. I was always going to be building the best chapter (Blood Angels obviously) after seeing the hand drawn 2 page layout of different chapters colours and iconography, but there was something about how cool the Silver Skulls looked 🤔 About a month later I had a Desert camo BA Land Raider and a standard BA scheme one along side, each with a squad of 10 to transport. There was also a shiny squad of Silver Skulls that remained on a shelf never to be realised as an army like my unwavering loyalty to the IXTH. But man they still look sweet. A classy looking chapter indeed.

Subject: Mission Alpha Forty Seven Varsavia Tertius (Varsavia) is the fifth planet in a system of seven. It is an ice-world orbited by five moons set in the galactic north of the Segmentum Obscurus. The southern lands are inhabited almost exclusively by the tribal people who are descended from the planet’s original settlers. It remains a mystery as to how they endured the series of volcanic eruptions and subsequent disruption of the planet’s weather system. Nonetheless, these tribes thrive. They are considered primitive in nature and the creed of the God-Emperor has been slowly introduced to them, one tribe at a time. Most have embraced these teachings and whilst they have eschewed the opportunity of moving to the civilised north, nonetheless show their fealty. A number of Adeptus Astartes are drawn from these peoples and they make tenacious warriors. A few isolated tribes have remained resistant to our missionary efforts, but in due course this will be addressed. They are made up of hardy stock that will provide an excellent recruiting ground for the Adeptus Astartes, and may yet provide a founding for a regiment of Astra Militarum. The fortress-monastery of the Silver Skulls Chapter is situated in the far north of the continent, built into the side of the largest mountain in a range. Silver veins run through the rocks here and it is believed this is why the Silver Skulls selected Varsavia as their new home world when the unfortunate events of Lyria (see Appendix IV) pushed them from their original home. As for the Silver Skulls Chapter, they are presently led by Lord Commander Argentius, the twenty-seventh incumbent to hold the title. The present Argentius is believed to have formerly been Captain Artreus, commander of the Sixth Company, whose battle record was outstanding. This has yet to be verified; something that will be done when the investigative team arrive on the planet. They acquit themselves with honour on the field of battle and are in possession of a considerable fleet that has proved its worth on more than one occasion. The Silver Skulls have taken responsibility for patrolling a number of neighbouring star systems and shipping lanes, including the treacherous Gildar Rift. As warriors, they are known to have close alliances with a number of other Chapters. Conversations with warriors of these allied Chapters have affirmed the understanding that the Silver Skulls are brutal on the field of battle, perfect examples of the Emperor’s maxim that ‘they shall know no fear’. Yet for all the positive information that has been gathered on the Silver Skulls, one thing continues to cause concern. Perhaps in part because of their tribal nature, they hold fast to potentially deviant superstition. Their Librarium is not arranged according to the Codex Astartes. Instead, they utilise a body known as the Prognosticatum. This body consists of Prognosticators, Prognosticars and the handful of Chaplains who serve the Chapter. At its head sits the Chapter Master’s equerry and chief adviser, Vashiro (another affected title). The Vashiro and Prognosticators are set apart from the others due to their apparent ability to read the threads of fate and predict outcomes of future events. The entire Silver Skulls Chapter has been known to refuse to take the field of battle when a Prognosticator has said that the omens were poor. Moreover, and more worryingly, there is evidence that they claim these visions are delivered to them by the voice of the most glorious God-Emperor of Mankind. This, in conjunction with the highly unsatisfactory recent gene-seed tithe, is primarily the reason that my operatives and I have been called in to investigate. It is most fortuitous that a situation outside of this investigation has arisen that provides me with the perfect reason to travel to Varsavia. The Chapter was not aesthetically barren of course; they took great pride in their body art and the tattoo artists, the Custodes Cruor, were regarded highly. Many of the Silver Skulls designed their own tattoos and a number of them were genuinely talented, gifted artists. Comprised of a number of scattered, largely uninhabited worlds, it was a potentially lethal zone to traverse. The field’s intrinsic dangers were made far more lethal by the vast quantities of space debris drifting eternally through the void. Remains of smashed vessels that had failed to heed warnings not to attempt transit were strewn throughout the Rift, an area that was too hazardous by far to salvage. Any opportunistic would-be looters who had tried to recover the wrecks often added their own ships to the mass. Ruptured and broken, the ships slowly leached slow trickles of plasma and other toxic wastes into the area. The lethal cocktail created a permanent chemical haze that constantly caused interference with auguries and communications signals. So the asteroid belt was both a blessing and a curse; presenting difficulties for any who wished to descend to or leave Gildar Secundus, but also offering an excellent natural defence for a planet whose promethium reserves were a critical resource for the Imperium. The challenge faced by visitors to the system in the shape of the swirling band of rock and ship debris was only the beginning. Xenos ships were regular trespassers here and, so it was rumoured, pirate activity was increasing not just here in the Gildar Rift but in the whole of the furthest reaches of the Segmentum Obscurus. Relishing the challenges that maintaining peace in the sector offered, the Silver Skulls had long ago set themselves to the task of patrolling the Gildar Rift. Other Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes would rarely volunteer themselves for such a plain, inglorious duty. But the Silver Skulls considered the sector as part of their territory. In the 3rd ed Space Marines Codex there's several labeled pictures of the Silver Skulls Legion. So we always thought they were one of the two Excommunicate Traitorous Legions.

Tbh, no insults to the silver skulls, but when I see those 2 sweet warrior faces 3:02 compared to the face of the commander hero you play in “WH40k: ultramarines” game, and specially the look he has in the intro cinematic when he looked right at you… I have some troubles to imagine they faced the same challenges and payed the same cost to war as the ultramarine commander did.
