I just came across a super nice pot of this today. I got it extremely cheap and am so excited I can barely contain it. Thanks for the information.

It’s such a beautiful plant but can honestly be little dramatic with watering. I’m still kinda figuring it out.

Im watching this 6 months after the fact and I’m going to need an update soon!!! I enjoyed this video. So many plant people are a little too much 😬 hope we get an update soon! I just got a very juvenile silver sword and I don’t know where to begin!

Ok ok ok it’s coming!!!!! Hahaha! I’ve got new lights, new camera, reorganized my whole home, lost weight, so I no longer have any excuses not to start filming again!

Elis, I also have a P. Hastatum, and I bought it roughly 1.5 years ago as a tiny plant in a 2" pot... it has grown beautifully for me, I cut it and propagate it twice now and gave some cuttings to friends... my plant is currently back to 2Ft long and I am considering adding a pole, a cane, a wire mesh pole like yours... or any form of support. Now my question to you is: Has your P. Hastatum grown mature leaves for you yet? I ask because there seems to be a lot of talk about 2 forms of P. Hastatum, yet I can't find any literature that proves this. All my readings point to the fact that it can take up to 10 years to mature and grow the large foliage we all love. Hence the confusion about one variety with small foliage and another variety with large foliage. So I'm going to assume mine is a juvenile, and I'm going to be walking on a zimmer-frame when it grows its large foliage lol What experience do you have, and do you have a follow up video? Like 1 year on... 🙂

First time watching a video from you and I’m hooked already! You’re amazing at explaining everything, your plants are lush and gorgeous, and you look like a beautiful Viking and that doesn’t hurt 😁

Thank you so much! I really needed to hear that. I took a bit of a break from KZbin to regroup and refocus and I'm excited to produce and release new content very soon :D

Hey, great video. I have this plant and I was wondering why some of the leaves have holes, and is this a pest problem? Many thanks

I added a moss pole to my silver sword a few weeks ago! Did yours ever root into the moss pole??

You will see the internodes start growing closer as the plant gets new growth too.

I do, but I’m going to film a new video, tonight actually, where I do the A-Z about my moss poles! Starting with how I make them.

This was a very interesting video, I just got a philodendron hastatum last month, anyway is there any tips on how to take care a tropical plants in subtropical/cold climate, I live in tropical climate my whole life and planning to move to the colder one, normally here I'd just let them grow wildly in my garden outside, is it hard to keep a tropical plant during the winter months? Is there any tips that could make the plants grow well during cold and dark season?

Why do people add activated charcoal? Doesn't it have the properties to absorb and retain all the minerals around it ? how does that help the plants?
@ElisandTheAroids2 жыл бұрын
To remove impurities I guess, but the charcoal would quickly become saturated with said impurities and not do anything. I personally from what I have researched believe its mostly pointless to add charcoal. It's also pricy!

I have bought this plant and after few days it's leaves looks very soft and it looks very tired, drooping down? What could be the reason can you please help?
@Simspinkable2 жыл бұрын
likely it just needs water, try to give it some and see if it perks up!
@swapnilsrivastava_artist2 жыл бұрын
@@Simspinkable thank you. I watered it again as soil dried up a bit , It is not looking very bad but leaves still looks a bit soft. I hope it will turn happy again.

So what happens when the plant outgrows the moss pole? Do you need to replace it?
@ElisandTheAroids3 жыл бұрын
They are easily extendable. I'm just about to film a video because I need to extend couple of mine.
@Bluemoon-sd8vp3 жыл бұрын
You could sell moss poles. Maybe on Etsy? They sell a lot of plants on Etsy. That is where I got Manjula pothos.
@ElisandTheAroids3 жыл бұрын
Yes I can, there’s a plant store close to my place that has asked me to sell them some 😊

How is this soil mix working out for you?
@ElisandTheAroids3 жыл бұрын
I am loving it, my aroids seem to be loving it, even my Hoyas seem to love it! It’s been really hot here and even with such extreme draining soil the plants without moss pole don’t need to be watered more than once a week. I feel like I’ve seen a visible perk up on my plants that I’ve transferred into my mix.

I’m working on gathering some good data and more factual evidence rather than just anecdotal so I can make a video about.
