In fact many of the vocal arrangements and harmonies from Neil Young albums to her TRIO sessions were arranged by Linda. She played guitar and fiddle occasionally but her instrument is a Stradivarius quality voice that she played to Divine perfection.

I was incredibly lucky to first hear her live. It seemed as though she barely parted her lips and this huge wall of sound pushed you back in your seat. It was the most incredible experience. I had never heard anything like it and to this day, I've never heard anything even close. She is the standard by which I judge other singers. I will tell you that she opened up that concert with Mad Love and literally pinned every one of us to the back of our seats. I turned to wifey and said, OMG, if she keeps that up, she'll have no voice left at end. AND DANG, if her voice LITERALLY GOT STRONGER over that entire concert! I've seen so many videos of her performances...( she didn't lip-synch, and of course, it was way before there was "auto-tune" ) and, I never heard her hit the wrong note. In fact, she performed almost every genre of music you can think of. In the early 80's she tried punk rock and it was criticized for being too polished.

I saw her in person during the punk rock thing, and I even had the album she put out at that time. I wasn't too fond of that style. She has even done some serious stuff, like high end Broadway stuff, and Spanish songs. An amazing voice, without close equal.

Remember she knew Gram Parsons (rip) way back when. He cannot get official recognition for his contributions to Country or to Rock. The country problem is when he started the movement had had pot leaves on his Nudie suits and was known to do drugs to the Nashville crowd. He was never accepted. But Linda knew him before she knew Emmylou.

Love Linda but she’s not the only one from the 60s and 70s who was doing country rock and gave it longevity. CSNY, The Eagles, The Byrds, the list is too long to type out. She was very influential on a lot of female singers, and I saw her sing live a number of times. I liked everything she did. Saw her sing on Broadway in Pirates of Penzance too! Broke my heart when she got Parkinson’s.

@@MichaelSSmith-hs5pw Yes, I knew that. The longevity of country rock artists from the time was the subject being discussed, not who came first. Mike Nesmith is an often overlooked name in this genre but he wrote Linda’s first hit two years before she recorded it and did other country rock songs before The Eagles played with Linda (“Joanne” is probably the most famous) if you want to talk about who came first.

Got to see her in Sacramento at Hugh's Stadium c.1975. The Eagles headlined the show opened by Norton Buffalo. One of the best concerts I've seen and I've seen a bunch. At 67 my children and grandchildren tease me about my age. I remind them all that means is I got to see the greatest bands ever with the original members...
