Hi Blackie, nice tip. When I was cooking for 5 or 6 people on a camp out , I had to items in my pocket, one a lighter and second a pot lifter . The pot lifter was made out of aluminum and looked like a pair of channel locks. One of it handle had a hook to grasp pot bail handles. It was one of the best 3 dollar investment I ever made. Lol

On stainless steel lids, sometimes I put a round magnet on top. I can then use my knife to pick up the lid by the magnet. Also works on the snifter lid for the Trangia stove (it’s steel as opposed to the rest which is brass)

It was raining while you were filming. I’m envious as most of Australia has been under heatwave conditions. Blackie, a green stick maybe a good fix but a pair of gloves are better. I use gloves and my USMC cover.

thats an awesome idea thanks for sharing , what fuel are you using on trangia stove ?
@Riverhawk-g8rКүн бұрын
Usually Denatured Alcohol. Or Heet in yellow bottle. It's mostly ethanol to keep fuel lines from freezing. Auto parts section has it everywhere. I know because state of CA banned sales of Denatured Alcohol, something about VOCs. But you can always find Heet, pricey, but it's there, even convenience stores have Heet for sale. Don't use isopropyl alcohol, too much other stuff in it , won't get as hot burns dirty.

I’m 74, soon to be 75, and don’t have any of the ailments your Silver Wolves seem to have. Friends my age also don’t seem to have these dexterity issues. If I don’t want my fingers burned I don’t touch the stove, flame, or hot pot. If I must touch the stove or hot pot I use a glove, handkerchief, or pot holder. If none of those are handy I use sticks as tweezers.
@rquest3059Күн бұрын
Basically, what you're saying is that you and your friends are better than the rest of us Silver Wolves. 🤨
@kylewilkinson6975Күн бұрын
@ROE1300 it's a good thing you aren't teaching woods craft skills because you don't have the skills or misfortune of making mistakes that we mere mortals struggle with and seem to need to learn these lessons.
@blazeorangeandcamoКүн бұрын
@@ROE1300 I've learned plenty from Blackie that has nothing to do with age or physical condition.
@battousai555Күн бұрын
You are old, stubborn, and unwilling to admit that Blackie has knowledge that is useful to share. For shame!
