Silverchair was uniquely positioned in a way that helped paved a way for their path via support from certain groups who desired representation. One being they're Australian so they could have support there from fellow Australians and another being Xennial 90s teens who didn't have their own grunge, rock idols as GenX (young adults of the 90s) had that entirely monopolized. It was through these very unique factors that made Silverchair rise above countless other teen bands trying to find success at the time.

But America, even at that time had overwhelming control of what succeeded in the music world. If an American woman was popular like Madonna, the entire world knew her. This, to this day only helps Silverchair with one song, Tomorrow, that's played on American radio. No other songs by them ever being played. I suppose the music labels felt their other songs were inappropriate like suic**al dream, Israel Son, Pure Massacre which all have very primal, even violent overtones.

@@RavenousFallen interesting perspectives, and well said! And yes, stateside radio only pushes ‘Tomorrow’. I’ve occasionally heard ‘Ana’s Song’, which is surprising as it was fairly popular here when it was first released. Not on the level of ‘Tomorrow’ of course, but enough that it should get some residual distribution I’d imagine.
