Bro this part is everything! "Body and soul, I'm a freak" Daniel Johns sings these lines with an intense feeling of guilt and maybe sorrow. It convinces you that the character does feel like he's a freak or something like that.

This is the very first time I listen to any of their songs (their singles were never released in my country), and though their inspirations are very clear, I think this is quite a solid song. I don't know what hate they got back in the day, but maybe the issue was that they were too similar to a sound that had been popular 5 years earlier and that music spot (the "angsty/depressed rock") had already moved on with new sounds like Korn or Smasihng Pumpkins? I'm basing all this only on this song though

I always love their rock story. They were this young band who won a record deal in a radio show thus the making of frogstomp which is a good record. May not be reinventing the wheel of rock but the song writing was tight. And to be considered a good band that’s good enough and how young they were when they made that record, it was impressive. And the fact that they never had a line up change, same 3 childhood friends stayed loyal to the band for nearly 20 years is inspiring.

I saw them live front row in high school in australia 🇦🇺 still have the drumstick that almsot took me out. The whole thing was like a fever dream. Time was warped. It was like being transported somewhere else and dumped back on earth!

These guess inspired me when I was 14-15. First 2 albums are Stellar for a teen. I’m 40 and still listen to them.

And yes....he is the most staggeringly beautiful human ever. His teal blue eyes. Pale skin. He’s stingy with smiles,so when he does flash a (sarcastic) grin,my jaw drops. And host to be clear- I’m in love with freak show/neon ballroom💕💕Daniel. He was still a baby when frogstomp came out...but wow two years later-he became a magnet. Mesmerizing and magical.

I'm not going to lie, I was never much of a fan of grunge or alternative rock/metal but this song always connected with me growing up in the 90's. It became an anthem for many of us. I reckon Silverchair were very much in touch with the youth of the time.
