Daniel Johns has a gift . He is very humble . He is a brilliant singer songwriter of our generation. Listened to Silverchair when I was 19 , now I’m 43 ( same age as Daniel) and still blown away .

If you grew up while Silverchair were developing as artists and growing up too then you probably have a strong attachment to their music. I remember they won artists of the year on Channel V 6 or 7 years in a row even if they didn’t release music because Channel V fans loved Silverchair

Funny...I remember casting this whole album aside as "crap," thinking Silverchair had changed and gone too soft. Now, 15 years later, here I am with a beer in my hand, on KZbin listening to this, thinking, "this is some great shit!" This song in particular is an amazing piece of song writing .

This album was a bit too "out there" to be a huge hit, I think. It's a weird pop/prog-rock mashup. I agree that it's a remarkable album though. Don't know of any other band that created a sound quite like Diorama, it's almost a genre in itself!

it was in Australia, I believe. Even when these guys' popularity simmered here in the States, They were Australia's Golden boys. Daniel Johns is still a very big deal in Oz. Ben's current fame is his wife being a bit of a Australian Kardashian in a sense. Chris owns and works a bar in their hometown.

@@EchaFahreza_ Daniel Johns still does music. He and another guy made a techo-synth pop group called Dreams. He hasn't touched rock for a while...mainly 80's-style synth now. You can't reconize him or his voice at all.

after 16 years, I'm enjoying Silverchair again, and some of the lyrics have so much more meaning for me now. still impressed with Daniel talent for words and how deep those feelings was for such young boys.... now, this is definitely my new fav song of them... there's a meaning for me, the lyric is beautiful and the music is great! "holding scissors, refused and disdained" so my broken brain thought, for years... got most of everything else right.. "polystyrene hat" not included of course... weird that i couldn't like diorama when it came out, while neon ballroom still felt like home... now i can never get enough this song n tuna in the brine, especially those two, while reluctant to revisit neon.... thank you daniel, chris, ben, & everyone involved in making diorama.. you guys rock my life like apollo staring high... saying this while i still can

If you've heard Daniel Johns' stuff lately, you'll know there's no going back. He's clearly gotten bored of the whole rock thing. Unfortunately he's fallen into that artist's trap of things that are interesting to do, but not listen to - as opposed to rock, which is fun to listen to, but often very boring to make & play. Which is his business, and I'm happy for him, but I don't care to listen to any of it.

Still loving this in 2022…. Got to see Silverchair twice in one weekend. Took a date to see them at the Brisbane river stage Saturday night then happened to see them Sunday night down the Gold Coast at Homebake haha. Miss the late 90s festival scene, Livid, Homebake, Big day out, watching Recovery on Saturday mornings.

Essa música é maravilhosa em tantos níveis que é difícil até de escutar só uma vez cada vez me dá um sentimento ainda melhor e a letra minha nossa que coisa mais linda! This band was my life when I was a teenager. I'm 33 now. Saw them in London on this tour in 2003. Still think this song and especially the outro is a masterpiece
