That looks like the Winnebago Revel 4-Wheel Drive recreational vehicle. Nice thing about a Revel which is a Class B RV is that it is setup to handle Winter Camping (below freezing temperatures). Yes that is what it is and he added a ton of stuff to it. Insane the cost of these but he started to look into a custom build and the cost was not much less for the level of stuff in it. The good thing is while I have it if my wife and I fight now I have a place to live!
@blkted29456 ай бұрын
@@SilverCymbal hahahha, I'm going to tell you from my experience. If you are not close to your wife, you will either get closer or farther apart. My wife has to relearn how to live in a small space, I was already used to it, having deployed and living in a tiny space, wife not so much. Second, like a home, something is always wrong with your RV and if you have wife that thinks you can just call in a specialist to fix it, doesn't really work like that. Example, our heat went out and I am pretty good at electronics. Check literally everything and finally after freezing on our trip, took it to the Camping World dealership and it was a corroded propane switch. I only had the vehicle 11 months. So be ready to fix your own issues. The switch is under warranty, but you could be stick out in bum-screwed Egypt as we used to say and you better know how to fix things.

Filter wrench? I have an NCV3 camper with the same engine and I just hand tighten it. It does help to take the whole airbox off which is very easy to do and requires no tools. You likely over-filled your Sprinter. The oil, when hot is likely above full. 13.2 quarts is the usual full amount. Fill to 12.5 quarts, warm the engine for 15 minutes, check the oil level. Usually add most of a quart to top off. That engine is a turbo diesel. Diesels usually require much more oil and turbos require more oil to feed the turbo lubrication system and the turbo oil cooler. 10 quarts is common on engines like a Cummins in a Dodge/Ram.

Because it's a 4x4 you maybe have a bigger oil pan giving the possibility to suck oil on high tilt that is not possible with normal oil pan and can result to engine's damage on regular engine. Also don't forget the oil life time on my exotic Cadillac escalade esv 6.0 I have to remplace my oil every 5000km (3000miles) and I have a lot of oil in it (something like 7L or 7 quartera) but on my dad car a Skoda Octavia with the 1.9tdi from VW the quantity oil is lower (like 4L or 4quarters) but IR can be change only every 60000km (37000miles) with longlife oil (or 30000km or 20000miles with regular oil). This oil life time count a lot in the usage fee.

I don't know what it's like mercedes, but for my toyota, going to the dealer and buying OEM oil filters is the same price as an off brand one (approx 5-6 USD) and my dealer throws in the washer for free. I always check the dealer price for parts and fluids because you might be surprised.... Also, I'm not saying you need to use OEM oil, but this is another reason to do your own oil changes because I wonder how many of those quick change oil shops even know about needing to use ESP special engine oil or even care to use the special engine oil...
@leeglidewell14732 жыл бұрын
As much as I love y'all's videos, which are usually absolutely on point, I have to disagree with y'all's comment about diesel engine oil ALWAYS being black. My '02 F-350 Power Stroke,7.3l diesel V-8's engine is filled with 15qts of AMSOIL 15-40 heavy-duty synthetic oil. At 5000 miles, the oil still has color in it. To be honest, I wouldn't feel uncomfortable about going 7,500 miles or more. When y'all don't put 6000 miles per year on any vehicle, y'all tend to change it more frequently. Yeah, it costs a little more than others, but, at the end of the day... how do y'all comprehend value? 'Nuff said. Giddy up.

Large oil fills are normal for diesels. Just one of the many ways they are more expensive. Fuel is higher, they need DEF, injectors are crazy expensive. IMO small Diesel engines aren’t worth it, the extra efficiency comes at a huge price.

None of my vans were diesels and none had 8 quarts of oil and none of my vans had an engine issue. They were either Ford or Chevy. I did change my oil on time though. Maybe diesels need more oil. There is literally nothing InSanE about the oil change, except the lack of the of a torque wrench. 14 quarts is about average for a light/medium duty Diesel engine. Have owned GM, Fords, and even a 3.0 and a 2.7 sprinter for reference.
@SilverCymbal2 жыл бұрын
Is it average? The Ford Super Duty has a 6.7 liter engine and uses 13.0 qts. The Mercedes has just a 3.0 liter engine and uses 13.4 qts - I say that's pretty unusual. Everybody yells about torque wrenches I have never seen a pro use them on anything except head bolts. Use it if you want, wasn't a big deal here.

@@SilverCymbal I have been over seeing 7 shops for almost 2 decades and used to turn a wrench for a living. I have never had a car leave with out a drain plug being torqued or a filter cap being torqued. Its especially important on the German aluminum pans with the overally aggressive threads and soft aluminum. I would still say not an insane amount for it being a diesel. Off the top of my head the duramax is the least at like 10 quarts but its gas counterpart is almost 9 quarts if I recall correctly!
