Realistically during cutting in real world you wouldn't have the ground to leverage and use your entire body weight to cut. So you'd be limited to upper body arm strength with manual clippers. I'm sure there are hydrolic piston cutters out there.

Locknoob is right. The product line demonstrated all have the same pick resistance. Master Lock does have other lines, which offer security pins, but these haven't any. As far as the combo lock, I think it was a Master 175 that was shown, it is bypassable, unless the design has changed recently. As a personal opinion, having worked in the security industry and being a locksport enthusiast, I tend to lead folk to brands other than Master. Their body's can be hard but they have a soft core. Thank you for making the video and trying to educate people about locks.

Lock Noob more or less you're right they don't have the best padlocks in the world but they're not the worst padlocks. Some "made in china" padlocks are really a joke compare to Master Lock so I don't think they're that bad. Some of the master lock padlocks does offer a compromise between security and cost which is not bad overall, like the level 10 M15 model

Silver Eagle Locksmith to be fair, I don't think they are the worst locks in the world and I think their highest security discus style padlocks are OK, I guess the issue is that they advertise their products as high security and have fancy packaging so I think it sort of misleads people. Silver Eagle Locksmith & Lock Noob ... You raised some good points in your arguments / comments about Master Lock vs some Chinese products - pipe wrench attack, pick resistance etc.. below. No video can be perfect, no analysis 100% But let me suggest some points that could make videos of this nature more interesting for the consumer. 1) Lock companies responsible disclosure of vulnerabilities or lack thereof - selling a false feeling of security.. 2) Lock companies failure to address known security flaws after having been responsibly informed 3) Cost benefit analysis based on realistic scenarios. Examples: A cheap Master or Chinese lock can be perfect if all you want o do is keeping opportunistic passers by from stealing 5 dollars worth of flower pots. If you have a 1,000 dollar bicycle in your shed you may want to spend a little more... and if we are speaking of a place that needs high security, those companies that false advertise with pick resistance, etc should be called out -- other may be recommended. Would also be a way to promote a good image for both the lock smith profession and for lock sport communities in the general public. Sorry for that lengthy comment. Both of you would be most welcome to contact me to discuss the issue. Cheers and thanks for this video. I wish I could produce videos of even remotely the quality you two guys produce. Your cutting demo was impractical bullshit. You had to bounce your full body weight on the higher level locks. It doesn't reflect reality as most locks are fastened well above ground where all you can do is squeeze your arms together which isn't even close to the force of jumping up and down on super long bolt cutter handles.

padlock is better if it's high off the ground and shrouded shackle. I own this level 10 in brass plating. It's fine around town for a bike chain, but there's no such thing as theft-proof anything, if they want, they get, then you need to think secondary methods like tracking device for the goods. most lock articles now recommend 16mm and above hardened steel, heavy diameter but impossible to crop by hand and will just bust the jaws of bolt croppers or pull them out of alignment instead of doing damage to the chain

Hi Tarehjerne, Here’s the thing and my personal perspective is that any KZbin creator can upload almost any content that he wants and teach the general public and the viewers almost anything, now Lock Picking is by definition a BURGLARY TECHNIQUES ! And there is no restrictions whatsoever on who watching those videos and what they can do by learning this skill...?! All of those “Hotshots” KZbin Creators posting hundreds of thousands of videos and teach how to pick locks and for my personal and professional opinion is VERY VERY Wrong and the only thing that they mention on their lock picking videos is something like “stay legal...” or whatever bullshit ! If I was teaching in my channel lock picking I would be 10 times more popular, but I am a man with a code And I honor my profession, so Lock Picking is out of the game in my channel. Now some people will agree with what I’ve just said and some will not, but honestly I don’t give a damn. And if you just want to learn how to pick locks as a hobby so I understand, but at the same time there is a millions of people that can use this method the wrong way, if you understand what I mean. Oh and yes Lock Picking tools you can buy almost everywhere online, but if the police catch you with those tools anywhere that is not your house you can be in a very big trouble unless of course you use it as part of your work such as locksmiths etc, but that’s already a different story (depending on the state and city that you live in the US or other country’s) Have a great day.

Silver Eagle Locksmith you are right, lockpicking is a burglary technique. The only issue is that for most locks it is the most inefficient way of opening them (apart from masterlock of course). A battery powered grinder is what criminals use to get through padlocks. Its great that you have an honor code but it really does not matter how much you hide your tools. You might also spark some interest when you showed how easily that lock got raked open.
@S.E.Locksmith
@S.E.Locksmith 5 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right, I did show how easy it is to pick some of those padlocks in general and how easy it is to cut them with a heavy duty bolt cutter and that from the very beginning the purpose of this video, to show people and to educate them on which padlock they should choose if they’re thinking about buying one in any hardware store, which is the most popular way to buy master-lock padlocks. By the way a battery powered grinder will cut almost anything and that’s include padlocks, bike locks or any Metal shackle or chain, so it’s not a quiet burglary technique, it’s a very loud and clear forced entry method of break-in and it will work almost 100% of the time. And just to be clear on something that you mention “A battery powered grinder is what criminals use to get through padlocks” well maybe only padlocks, but when it’s come to home burglary’s i’ve been experienced to many many many cases that the local police doesn’t have a clue on how the burglary was attempt and this is why I’m certain that a lock Picking was the way for them to get in, Thanks to all the videos here online and to all those “Hotshots” creators That teach everyone and their sisters how how to brake-in to places and all that just to be popular and gain views online. This is the sad truth that can affect everyone that don’t invest in High Security Locks etc. For now, all I can say is “stay legal” Lol.
@tarehjernetarehjerne4082
@tarehjernetarehjerne4082 5 жыл бұрын
Silver Eagle Locksmith where i live the most common way of a forced entry is by using a battery powered grinder. 90% of all medium to high security locks are abloy locks so picking really isn’t an option. I am aware that a grinder is loud but because of the bystander effect; chances are none will interfere. Im not sure about you but i have found the lockpicking community to be very friendly and honest. Of course, there will be people who use their skills for illegal activities, but usually the lock isn’t the weakest link in a house with windows.
@S.E.Locksmith
@S.E.Locksmith 5 жыл бұрын
Of course the locks are not the weakest link in a house with windows, but statistically speaking you looking about 34% of the time a home break-in occur through the front door. About the community of the lockpicking that you were talking about... well I’m sure there is a lot of honest and nice people in this Community, but don’t be fool ! And I will repeat what I said Lock Picking is a Burglary Techniques And for that reason it should not be allowed for anyone to learn or teach if it’s not part of he’s/she’s work, Period ! And I know a lot of people like to do that as a hobby but unfortunately there is no possible way to prevent someone with bad intentions to use this skill for something else. Did you know that in England, The English censors delete the lock picking scene by Linda Hamilton from the original movie T2 (Terminator 2) Because they didn’t wanna promote lock picking method to the general public, because the actual scene was not fake and she was actually picking the lock in the mental institution using a paper clip. So yes lock picking is and should be prohibited by any means necessary to the general public. If you just doing it as an hobby and practice at home, The day will come that you will use it for something else and I’m not meaning doing a crime but to help a friend a neighbor a family member etc, which can put you in risk of getting caught (rare but possible) And just by carry those tools in some states and cities it’s consider as a possession of a burglary tools. I will not try to get into more details because it really depending on the place that you live. But long story short everyone have different opinion and because I am a professional locksmith I believe that people, that want to learn how to do it just for fun should find something else to do. Imagine that someone will open a KZbin Channel tomorrow and teach everyone how to break into Bank’s Vaults, safes etc and I’m talking about the professional way of course. Just think about that for a second... Will that be considered as a hobby as well?! There is things that should be prohibited for the greater good. And only those that need to use this technique as part of their work should have access to learn it. And yet again I don’t think that everyone should agree with me , it’s just my professional opinion Have a great day.

If I buy a level ten, how many different keys do they make for the lock? Like can someone buy a bunch of them and get repeated keys on other locks and fish for the same key for your lock? I can't imagine they have a different key for every lock they make? What's the numbers of different keys? And why when I was in the store today, the back of the package said it had a certain key lock number? Is that the repeat key thingy? like if someone bought that same number there key would work in both locks? Thank you all.
@S.E.Locksmith
@S.E.Locksmith 5 жыл бұрын
Ok so if you buy it from hardware stores it’s definitely possible to find more than one lock with the same key as those stores purchase them in stocks and usually every box of locks have the same key. The second thing is master lock company uses a variety of key combinations numbers and not just 10 or 20 it’s way way more than that ! I can’t tall for sure but it will make their locks vulnerable if they do such thing. Last thing is that you can be sure that the chances of someone having the same keys as yours and know exactly where you live or where you put this padlock is probably 0.0000001 % so I wouldn’t worry about it at this point, but what I do recommend is for you to buy a better padlock from the very beginning (Higher Security & Heavier Duty) but it’s a all different story for another video. @@S.E.Locksmith Yea that helped, if there is only 20 different locks, can't the rifle threw those 20 keys? and same with the combination numbers? I have a question for you? What is the safest lock for a gym locker room? I had a dollar store combination lock, someone broke into it, I'm guessing he tested a few numbers??? or shimmed it??? But,,, since padlocks that can't be shimmed, can still be picked. Isn't a none shinable combination locks not vulnerable, unless they hammer it or bolt cut it? and you can't do that in a highly populated gym locker room. What's the best lock for a gym change room environment where there's constant people in there, and they can't bang it, or bolt cut it? Thank you so much, great videos.

It may be fun to learn how to pick locks and practice at your house but it’s very dangerous when it’s come to the wrong hands 🙌 Regardless master lock are a good padlocks if you choose to go with the high-end heavy duty versions that they offer and not the cheapest ones you can find at the hardware stores

For anyone wanting to buy a lock, DO NOT buy MasterLock. I've opened fewer than 100 locks in my life but I can pick each of these locks in the video in fewer than 30 seconds. Hell, I've seen a video where a guy picks open a MasterLock with a chicken bone. The only thing MasterLock has going for it is strength from brute force attacks. However, their locks can be raked open which requires 5 minutes of practice to become proficient enough for any of their locks.

Key is blocked by pins when u using it, only in starting position you have springs and space where pins can move so you can move out your key, some locks have two sets of springs and you can take your key in open position but its not the case with this locks and there is no way to move you key out when core is partialy rotated.

There are actually several good quality affordable Master padlocks sold in Europe. including several dimple locks. The problem is finding them buried in with the rest of Master's standard "marshmallow core" junk. They're EU exclusive too.
