The double walled pot called the Dragon Pot makes this stove a complete survivor kit. Used mine almost 300 times for all kinds of cooking and hot water.

Thanks for the review. Another point in favor is the minimal smoke that is less dangerous to health in areas where a large number of people are congregated.
@MichaelTravis12c278 жыл бұрын
+Mark Young (Shunpyke) true, but I'd still be very careful to make sure you use it in an area with adequate ventilation.

Very nice video. I have a few comments. From a prepper standpoint, one of the features I liked about this is that you could use indoors in a fireplace and because it gives off virtually no smoke nobody around you would be any the wiser. Next, I bought mine a few years back and the design for the wood feed tray has been upgraded. Last, when I bought mine they sold separately a covered pot that was designed to fit exactly on top. If they still offer that, I recommend it. It's sort of expensive but works really well and I'm glad I got it.
@MichaelTravis12c278 жыл бұрын
+John Byrnes thank you for your comments. I'm not sure if they still offer that pot or not. I'll have to look into that. This would definitely be an option for use in a fireplace. It smokes a fair bit when starting but after it gets going there is very little smoke.

Great video and a great reason to do it as well. All the people going through the tornados like you said should have one. This is something I'm going to have for sure. For some reason we lose power a few times each year and are screwed! This would make all the difference between a bad day or two and a backyard camping trip. Thanks for the video good job.

Excellent review and video there Mike. Well done mate!! Love that stove. I can see it being really handy if you have groups of people who just go out somewhere to "rough it" for a few days. Seeing how quickly it heated that frying pan was really impressive and the fact that its fuel requirements are completely minimalistic, for me, would make it a great option for groups of people as well as organised scout camp lodges etc. I dont see why it couldn't be used near enough every day to cook for groups as well as having it purely for emergency use too. Regardless of living well out of the way from people or in a well populated area. Cos once that power goes out and people cant make a cuppa, let alone cook food, then their patience with power companies and friendliness towards those around them can diminish very rapidly. But you have half a street of people cooking up a huge pot of water and using it like a tea urn to at least give people a hot drink, makes a stove like this pretty invaluable to my way of thinking. Thanks again Mike and ATB mate. Andy.
@MichaelTravis12c278 жыл бұрын
+MrTatts64 thanks for the kind words Andy. I appreciate them. I think you are quite right about the many uses of this stove. It's crazy how efficient it is. It will really do quite a lot of cooking with just minimal fuel that is super easy to gather. With how well it's built I think it would be well suited to long term use.
@MrTatts648 жыл бұрын
+Blue Mountain Bushcraft and Outdoors You earned them Mike! As for the longevity of the item, I can it lasting years. Whether its used or kept for that "just in case" thing, you know. Something you didn't mention and has only just occurred tome, is how good is it at heating a small marquee where perhaps displaced people could be resting or sleeping. Let's face it, our troubles seem a lot less severe when we are warm! Obviously, something may need to go on top to stop the heat just shooting straight up and burning the thing down, but I would hazard a guess that it would be pretty damn good at that too. Keep up the great work Mike :)

I am guessing that you could modify an empty coffee can (the tin metal variety) for much less than one of these manufactured rocket stoves cost????
