Bring your silversmithing skills to a new level. If you are tired of wasting time setting solder bits, tired of solder overflow and want to add more components to you work; well then fusing is for you. Fusing is walking the fine line between melting silver and joining silver, to make clean and durable connections. Once mastered, you can easily and quickly connect hundreds of components without the fuss of dealing with placing tiny solder bits. This is the second course of a three part series. All three are stand-alone, technique based courses that can be purchased separately. If you take all three, they will culminate into a finished cuff.

I like fusing. I'm still in the early stages of silversmithing but when I was first doing my research on using a torch and deciding whether I wanted to start out solder or fusing, the idea of soldering was intimidating so I opted to start with fusing 999 Fine Silver and 935 Argentium Silver. It was so much easier and less mess. I was hoping for a demonstration but this was still informative. I will definitely check out your website. Thanks!🙂

Sorry, it looks like I either forgot to mention it or it was accidentally cut out during editing. I only use Argentium silver. I think it can be done with fine silver but you may lose the texture. I dont think I would try it with traditional sterling, the fire scale may inhibate the fusing.

No you cannot 'infuse' sterling silver. But you CAN fuse it. It will fuse to other sterling silver, or fine silver or argentium silver or gold.

So, it's my understanding you can really only fuse Argentium silver? Sterling silver doesn't fuse well without solder?

You can fuse traditional sterling. It just reacts a bit differently.
