SILVERTON MOUNTAIN HELI-BOARDING Ski Resort Guide Colorado | Snowboard Traveler

Deep in Colorado’s San Juan mountains lies the rugged, expert only ski resort of Silverton Mountain. It is the highest ski area in the U.S. and the steepest. It’s so extreme that most of the season is guided access only with limited tickets. Silverton has one chair lift with hike to terrain but also boasts affordable heli days from one to six drops. Three heli runs is the magic number to get deep into the backcountry and we chose the full day, six run heli hoping to explore the 29,000 acres of terrain.

How much does the helicopter ride cost?

One drop is around $184 but I’ve seen them do early season sales for $99. A full day is about $1,200 plus tip.
