Try Nickel plating, you can make up an electrolyte with white vinegar, 1.5 volt battery and a strip of nickel. From this you can plate steel, providing the steel has been prepped with wire wool and clean things will work out. The colour will be close to original you can also apply locale plate to the chassis using a conductive brush. Give it a go, YT have some videos. Best. Ps I have extended pot shafts using copper pipe used in refrigeration, various sizes available. Pps, check out Geofrey Croker Electroplating he has a good vid.

At least it didn't pick up a Trump speech like last time. If the volume pot is no good, I cut the shaft from that and add it to the coupling to extend it. An alignment should bring some results. Thanks Vern.
