Fun fact, Aftershock originally operated at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois. It was always down for maintenance at that park and since Silverwood purchased it, it has been running consistently as they troubled shoot the issues. So it’s rare when it breaks down.

This park used to be a dust bowl but as the years have passed it now has grown trees, foliage, and flowers. They have their own greenhouse onsite. So it’s become one of the most beautiful family owned parks in the country. Fun fact, the owner, Gary Norton, was at auction for the classic steam train and won the bidding war over Disney. Yes, Disney! Another fun fact, the majority of patrons are from the Seattle side of the region. We’re very fortunate to have this regional park in the northwest.

I really appreciate you riding all those coasters for us, Jacob. I HATE the feeling of falling and hate the feeling of being upside down even more, not to mention I LOATHE the feeling of wind blowing in my face, so I haven't ridden a coaster in probably more than 20 years. Even if I wanted to, I don't think my arthritic back would handle all that jostling well. So I love seeing your POV footage of all these coasters I will never ride. The view is the best part of the ride without all the parts I hate!

It appeared to me that Aftershock was not in the station, but failed to make the circuit and valleyed between the loop and the reverser tower. Maybe the catch car didn't engage? Charles Lindbergh said that riding the Coney Island Cyclone was more fun than barnstorming in a plane, so you got to do BOTH on Stunt Pilot. Looks like a fun day at a beautiful park. THANKS!

This park has a close relationship with Rocky Mountain Construction just up the road. They did theming and prototyped their wood and hybrid track on the park's wooden coasters. Some say Stunt Pilot was intended for Kentucky Kingdom, but the park fell on hard times due to COVID-leading it to be sold to Hershend (who also tried to acquire Silverwood Around the same time, but declined)

That corkscrew coaster is a type of coaster called a "Loop Screw". They were made by Arrow Dynamics. Arrow coasters, especially their Loop Screws, tend to be REALLY REALLY rough. Your head tends to bounce around in the corkscrew, and their turns are as rough as an old wooden coaster. The only type of Arrow Dynamics designed coaster that I've ever been on that wasn't a rough ride was in "Riverside Park" that later became Six Flags New England. It was called "The Loop Coaster". They painted it black in the 80's and renamed it "The Black Widow". The only reason it wasn't rough is that there were no turns in it. You started on a station at the top of a hill. You went down the hill, through the loop, up the hill on the other side, where you rolled into a second station, stopped, and then were pushed backwards down the hill and through the loop to the original station. That one was smooth. But it wasn't trying to do anything but roll down a hill and go straight through a loop. The most painful Arrow Dynamics Coaster I ever went on was "The Great American Scream Machine" at Six Flags Great Adventure. That thing literally beat the snot out of you. It near gave me a concussion in the corkscrew. And it caused a lot of injuries, I understand. I'm GLAD they scrapped that one. For a LONG time, Arrow was the only game in town when it came to these type of looping steel coasters. But man... they were ROUGH.

Would be nice to add an Amtrak stop in Athol because 1. Silverwood is pretty far from any other amusement park 2. there is already a thruway service between Spokane and Cour d'Alane, so it could serve as the stop for Cour d'Alane. The only drawback is that the existing service in Idaho, the Empire Builder, splits in Spokane with one branch to Portland (paralleling the Columbia River) and the other to Seattle (through the Alpine Lakes and Everett). There used to be another train between Spokane and Seattle via Yakima and reaching Seattle from a junction in Auburn called the North Coast Hiawatha. Maybe Idaho and Amtrak could add it if they restore that service?

You are a beast for riding all those coasters. I was worried that you were going to have a panic attack when the drop tower was going up. You should get a Chums or Spiderwire neoprene eye glass strap so you would be able to safely leave your glasses on without concern that they would fly off. If you’re like me you can’t see much without eyeglasses. That looked like a very large and fun park to go to. Thanks for another adventure.
