Didn't think I could get the hang of it , but half an hour for such a classy AND practical Dutch braid is more than worth it. Thank you soooooo much for your hard work.

Another tip while you're learning would be to use those tiny clear elastics to hold each of the 5 sections in place while you braid. Then you can just cut them off when you finish.

You are an amazing teacher! I haven't had this much fun playing with my hair in years (or this much arm exercise!) I do have trouble switching my grip when I go from behind my head to over my shoulder My hair is about waist length so I usually start braids from a pony tail and bring the end over my shoulder to finish. Any advice?

I feel like maybe I should start with braiding some 5 random strands to familirize myself with how to hold hands and handle all 5 of them before moving onto actual hair. Thank you so much for this video!

RockSashka13 yeah I was thinking that too! Like yarn or an old tee shirt cut up or something.

That would definitely help!

But how do you transition from behind the head to over the shoulder? I can do the dutch braid part no problem, but I lose the strands when I try to pull it around to the side. Usually, I just reform them into 3 strands and just braid it normally the rest of the way, because that part's always bunned up and no one notices. But what if I want it to be nice all the way down?

Dunno if this is just a me problem, but: loving the braid--however, within a couple hours, my 4 & 5 parts curl over each other rather than lay flat. How do you counter that? When I braid any of my friends' shorter hair, it stays. But with my own hair, past waist length, it folds over itself. Tips?
@silvousplaits6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that tends to happen when the braid is really tight - which is more likely to be the case in long hair, because the weight pulls it all tight, or at least hair that is really long relative to how thick it is. I've found that keeping the braid looser or adding in extensions for more thickness helps me.

I know a guy who can do 9 strand braids. Not on himself, only seen him do them on his wife...but still...his wife's hair isn't that thick....
