Each time I've considered an upgrade to my Playseat Trophy, I find you've not only accomplished it but also shared a detailed video tutorial. I noticed you've incorporated two shakers. I'm contemplating expanding to five, positioning one at each corner and an additional one beneath the seat. This will require some inventive mounting solutions on my part. Think this will be over kill? I like that you said peace at the end too haha. I thought I was still the only one.

"Peace" Haha. I love the idea of trying 5 shakers on a Playseat Trophy. The first thing that comes to mind though, is that thing is gonna be heavy as hell. My second thought is you'd need 2 more Nobsound audio interface/power amps, so you'll be packing a whole lot of gear, but I think that's manageable. I'd use a USB hub for sure to keep cabling tidy. If you need to move your rig around like I do, the extra weight might be a pain. I'm not a frail weakling, but I'm 55 and my back ain't what it used to be. I think I'm right on the weight limit for me.

@@sonyx5332 I wish @revs1567 would chime in with his specific safety concern. The only thing that came up on my search is that some people have said their bass shakers get hot, but that seems to be an issue when installing in a car in an enclosed space. Mine are very open to the atmosphere and in a climate controlled room, so it's not been an issue for me. If anyone knows of any safety concerns using bass shakers, please comment here.

@@sonyx5332 I found this in the manual for a BST-1, which is the larger version transducer than what I installed. "WARNING: Do NOT exceed 50 watts RMS per Bass Shaker multiplied by the number of Shakers (example: 50 x 4 = 200 Watts RMS)" And this... "WARNING: Always check under carpeted locations and recheck the mounting area so as to not cut or drill into any existing electrical wiring, airbag sensors, hydraulics, brakes, gas, or fuel lines." Neither of those concern me in the least. I'm running a proper rated power amp, and that second warning isn't about the transducer itself, it's about being careful when installing (in a car) so you don't ruin something else. Of course, proceed at your own risk.

@@DigitalRelay Thanks for this info and taking your time to find this out also. The BST-1 are exactly the main bass shakers that I'm planning on using, just need to find a better amp than the typical mini Nobsound as I will be using two BST-1 and later on probably adding two more or just the smaller TT25 under the pedals plate to use with the console and Simhub software.

+1 re. Sim hub settings. I have a near identical setup with sim hub running on an old Mac mini 😂 with GT7 Next, you’ll have to add a 5” dash with a raspberry pi to complete the setup. I made a bracket on mine out of aluminium that fits into existing screw holes on the dd pro wheel base. I also made a GT7 dash that uses all the telemetry data available for GT7 PS5. Having a large gear indicator, fuel gauge and lap counter is a game changer.

That's awesome!! I have played around with Dash Studio in Sim Hub a bit. It surprisingly worked even on the laptop viewing the PC via VNC. For my purposes, when I want an external dash for GT7, I've been using the Eziodash app for iOS. You can't customize it, but it shows pretty much exactly what I want. I have a minimal tripod I use with my iPhone when filming YT videos. When racing, I lower it, pop my phone in, open Eziodash and plug the phone into the PS5 with a USB-C cable to keep the battery charge going.

Finding your channel is what inspired me to finally do something about the mess of visible wires I had going on, with my R-seat S1 tubular rig! 👍 I also bought the same nobsound amp in red to match my red seat and used a small thin cellphone magnet mount to hold it onto my rig on the left side seat mount. Now comes the sad part!! 😞I have an old Dell Vostro 13.3" running win7. I installed the sim hub software, bought a license and no matter what I do, I can't get things to work??😒One thing I haven't tried, is plugging the nobsound into my PS5 via a usb cable?!?! As it is now, it's plugged into my laptop and the cable for sound also plugged into the laptop. I've got BT turned on, amp on, dialed up and still nothing coming out of the base shakers I've got mounted on the seat back and bottom. I've got the V3 pedals with the small rumble motors, so all I wanted was some feedback from my seat. Not sure if you'll see this, but if you do, I'd love to hear back from you as to what I'm doing wrong?? If not, that's ok as well, I'll get it figured out one of these days... 😉 Cheers 🍻 Pierre from Canada.

Definitely do NOT plug the Nobsound amp into the PS5. Assuming your cabling is correct and the Nobsound is getting power from a power supply, I would get Simhub running on the PC, hookup the Nobsound to the PC and the bass shakers, then use the "test" function in Simhub to see if you can trigger the bass shakers. If not, then there is something in the configuration on the PC or in Simhub that isn't right. If the "test" function triggers the transducers, then you need to make sure that Simhub is looking for the right IP address of GT7 on the PS5. I'm not a thorough expert in this. You may want to head to www.simhubdash.com and under Help is a link to join their Discord server. Be patient, you'll get it figured out. :) And thank you for your kind words!

@@DigitalRelay Awesome, thanks so much for the reply! I've got power to the amp and when doing the test function with the amp turned up, I don't get anything. I'm pretty sure it's a config setting with the IP address with my PS5. I hope it's not that my laptop is too old, running win7 because when I pulled it out of retirement for this job, I wasn't able to connect it via wifi and had to run an ethernet cable to get on line. SimHub installed alright. When I did a bluetooth detection, it discovered the amp and installed some features, but then came back with a driver install failure message?? 🤔 I'll be looking into that for sure and let you know. Cheers, 🍺

Thanks for a really well informed and good video. I also have a Playseat Trophy and want to do this. I wonder about the positions of the shakers, is it good to have them front/back, or do you think it would be better in gameplay with a left/right setup? What do you think now when you have tried? Thanks a lot for this clip 👍🏼
@DigitalRelay
@DigitalRelay 5 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! For my particular setup, front/rear made way more sense than left/right. The PlaySeat Trophy is pretty narrow, and I wanted the bass shakers underneath and hidden, so if I had gone left/right, they'd be very close to each other and difficult to feel as much separation as left/right. If I had a stationary aluminum profile rig that never moved, I'd probably go with 4 bass shakers, one on each corner, along with a rumble pedal on throttle and brake for wheel spin and wheel lock respectively. If you don't care about hiding the bass shakers, this might be an option on the Playseat Trophy. You could also try just mocking up the bass shakers and attach them with velcro straps or gaff tape to test location before final install. One last note, now that I have a DD wheel base, 2 bass shakers, the power amp, rumble pedals and wind simulation on the rig, it's heavy. I still have to pick it up to get over the area rug, but I added furniture gliders to the bottom of the rig so I can mostly slide it around.

I used 3M dual lock tape to mount the sound card onto the pedal plate, and I think that may give it a little isolation from vibration. So far, absolutely no problems with it. The only minor issue I have with haptics in general is when I connect and disconnect USB, Windows sometimes doesn't recognize the sound card. To fix, I have to restart Simhub. It's a minor annoyance.

Nice! I just finished adding smaller bass shakers to my old G29 wheel stand rig. Video in progress. I'm interested to see how you handle the install on the Challenge. On both rigs, I'm running the power amp at about 50-70% on the volume knob. In Simhub, the main output is around 60% and none of the effects are at 100%, so I'm sure I'm not pushing 50W to any single speaker. For me, I'm getting plenty of haptic effect without coming close to outputting full power.

I'm either happy with how I have it dialed in, or I've just gotten used to it now. Wheel lock/ABS is definitely not ideal, but I feel like braking in general in GT7 is not ideal. Especially initial pressure. I semi-regularly have Simhub not detect my interface and I have to restart Simhub. On those occasions where I start to drive and there are no haptics, I pause the game in one second to go fix it because it's become such an integrated part of sim racing. I should do a followup video and take some time to go over all the effects again and see if there are any improvements I can make. I have not tried this. I think technically, you could get the bass shakers to do something by extracting the audio from the HDMI signal, but it's going to be imprecise and you won't be able to tune the effects. When using Simhub on a separate PC, you are able to specifically interpret the incoming telemetry from PS5, and use it very specifically to control the effects you want. For example, incoming road vibrations telemetry can be used to trigger different output levels, and specific frequencies to each bass shaker. Gear shift telemetry can have different levels and frequencies from road vibrations so that you can feel and tell the difference. If extracting just game audio to trigger bass shakers, you'll basically end up with subwoofers.

@DigitalRelay
@DigitalRelay 8 күн бұрын
If you're using Simhub or similar software, you do NOT need an HDMI sound extractor. Simhub receives the telemetry data, then uses that data to trigger the effects going to the Nobsound interface/amp, which feeds the transducers. I think an HDMI audio extractor would only be used in a simple system where you were basically using the transducers as subwoofer for the TV sound. This would give you some bass shaker effect, but you'd have almost no control over it. If you are using Simhub, have control over each effect. For example, if you had 4 bass shakers, one on each corner of your rig, you could make it so when simhub detects wheel spin, you it triggers only the rear bass shakers. You also can use the frequency setting to help differentiate different effects. You also get to control volume/balance. So if you wanted brake lockup to trigger just your front left bass shaker, you can do that. In a nutshell, Simhub does not use any game or TV audio. It's actually generating its own audio signal, but the purpose of the bass shaker is to feel the vibration rather than hear an audible sound. Although, the nature of making vibrations on your rig is likely to be heard. I hope that makes sense.

So if I understand you correctly, its a usb output from the "laptop/computer" that is running sim hub directly to the usb input on the amp? This may just be easier than I first thought.
@DigitalRelay
@DigitalRelay 7 күн бұрын
@@quintondafel225 Yes, that's correct. The Simhub PC just needs a USB connection to the nobsound interface/amp.

If i get a 200w nobsound amp can I add 2 bass shakers to 1 channel if it’s going to play the same affects?
@DigitalRelay
@DigitalRelay 5 ай бұрын
That should work if the impedance of the bass shakers and the amplifier match. You'll need to wire the bass shakers in parallel, not series though.

Can I hook up bass shakers to my ps2 racing setup? I want them for gran turismo 3 & 4

Using Simhub, I highly doubt it. I don't think GT3 or GT4 send the telemetry data.

Also, could you use four transducers with two amps on one PC?
@DigitalRelay
@DigitalRelay 4 ай бұрын
Yes, that should be no problem. I've read or seen videos with people using more than two audio interfaces/amplifiers driving 6, 8 or more transducers.

Please tell me how to get GT7 working with Sim hub with one PS5 and another PC. I’m really struggling to get this going
@DigitalRelay
@DigitalRelay 29 күн бұрын
Assuming they are on the same local network, look under network settings on the PS5 to find its IP address. Enter that into Simhub on the PC and you should be good. The only other thing I can think of is if you have a port conflict. I'm not an expert on that though. I'd search for Simhub port forwarding instructions or maybe get on the Simhub Discord.

does it have sound or just vibrate?

Their purpose is to vibrate, but vibrations tend to result in sound.

I cannot believe the amount of effort you have put into getting all these sim integrations working with a console game like GT7. Have you tried any real sims like Assetto Corsa, rFactor or iRacing? The difference is night and dad when moving from a console SimCade like GT or Forza.

I have not tried other legit sims, but the thought has struck me multiple times. iRacing seems especially interesting, but building a PC and cost are unappealing hurdles for me. I've been on Gran Turismo since GT3 and console sim racing has advantages that fit my situation, at least for now. I'm also enjoying pushing the limits on just how far you can go with this stuff on a console game. I didn't even know this was a thing until a few months ago.

How noisy is it for others around you? Can you reduce the noise to a level where you feel the vibration but it doesn’t wake up the neighbours?
@DigitalRelay
@DigitalRelay 4 ай бұрын
You can definitely adjust levels to quiet things down for bystanders and neighbors. I use to use two different simhub profiles - one with much lower levels for nighttime use, but I ended up adjusting one that powerful enough, and reasonably quiet. It's going to depend on your situation though whether it'll be waking the neighbors or your family. I fabricated some rubber isolators for the four corners of my rig which helps keep the energy transferring into the floor, but it's not perfect.
