Will be honest. The Blaydon Races Sculptures wasn't researched properly as this was researched by looking it up on my phone at the location, the walk to the sculptures wasn't planned and was a plan that I made up on the go. If it not correct I do apologise and your more than welcome to add any further information in the comments.

I still think that the Tyne and Wear Metro should extend to Metro Centre as the Class 555s have entered service.

Blaydon signal box was in the vee of the line that came also from Newcastle via scotswood the box controlled that level crossing also which was the main line at the time which is why the box does not face the present line which created severe traffic problems so the scotswood link was closed and the flyover was built the scotswood line also served blaydon MPD which was on the north side of the dual carriage way the drivers signing on point was only demolished about 15 /20years ago

Looking at old OS Maps, can see that line looking at the OS Map it did cross the River Tyne and the line came out just before Newcastle Station which can still be seen but nothing more than a siding
@michaeljohnson463621 күн бұрын
Bear in mind that the river did not run where the sculptures are, that is a new cut if you look at older map you see a area called lemington gut that is the original course of the river and the Newcastle scotswood linewent on to newburn then crossed the tyne at wylam on a bow string bridge that's still there

Blaydon did have a nice station till the mid 1960's when de-staffing of stations on the line occurred. The vandalism was so severe at Blaydon that the buildings had to be demolished

If the footbridge had a brighter paint job it may look quite decent. A very open station with the road next to it, not brilliant for filming. But a lovely river walk nonetheless.
@Sim0nTrains21 күн бұрын
I do agree. The footbridge did look more 90s built and can see why it had a 2 hourly service in the first place

Very interesting journey along the Hadrian Wall line. Do you think that it could perhaps be electrified in the future.
