The downfall of Street Outlaws is simply Pilgrim/Discovery. They completely overloaded us with content. 405 show, New Orleans, Memphis, Fastest in America, NPK, Endgame, America's List, Mega Cash Days big tire, Mega Cash Days Small Tire. And after a while you just get burnt out on all of it 24/7. I personally love 187 CUSTOMS KZbin channel WAY better than the show content. Chief is WAY better on his channel than he was on the show in later seasons and several channels are SO close to being extremely good Kye Kelley's, Scott Taylor, Ryan Martin. If they would be more regular uploads similar to 187 customs then I wouldn't have any use for a T.V. show.

A few of us saw it coming and when we said "with chief leaving it's the beginning of the end". And others were saying "no JJ is better or JJ is more street". Well he's gone after he ran off everyone. JJ got the crown and didn't know what to do with it. So he cashed out.

I don't think there's anyway question when chief left, the show died. Just look at the ratings when he was the head of the show and when he left. I recently watched some of the old original 405 shows and they were just so much better, going around seeing what all the guys were doing at their shops, pranking guys, and then just having some racing at the end. NPK was 3 hours of racing and a little of watching what happened in the pitts. The drama was fun. The truth is to make it great reality show you need great characters. That's what the original Show had and chief was the best / most interesting character.

One thing i feel hasn’t fully been addressed in all of this is the insurance and liability aspect of the street shows. Even in a closed environment on a full production set, it’s still just a street that’s closed for filming. Meaning pilgrim media assumes all liability in that environment(no matter what waivers are signed and how many releases participants have signed). In a track environment every single car is tech’ed, they are significantly safer built cars, the track environment is purpose built for cars going very fast. Guys flip, roll, hit the barriers and walk away.

Well NPK made sense to give people a chance to meet and cheer for the “street racers” and meet them. They screwed that up bringing in the “track guys”. Then the street stuff got fucked, when they brought jj in and changed it from “ find out who’s the fastest with a set of rules to make it fair” to. “ the jj hustle”. That ruind the street. Good point about racers making their own content. You have 40K subscribers and 187 Customs has 269K subscribers. Discovery and Pilgrim has had to deal with deaths and very serious crashes, the economy across the whole world is in poor shape. There is still street racing, it is not just filmed in a professional manner.

I believe that they could create a good show/product by doing a combination of parts manufacturer with the street races. The show would gather sponsors within the drag racing industry/community and allow them to financially give each driver x amount in parts to run on their cars. Keep the overall money spent on each car the same. Just like the salary cap they do in professional sports. If during the season parts are broken they can be same part replaced or upgraded part replaced but counted additionally to their overall expense. It would closely relate to us that save to buy performance parts for our street race cars. Manufacturers could advise racers on how to get the most for their dollar and many other choices or issues as they arise. I’d love to see the results of certain combinations of intake, carbs, exhaust, tires, suspensions etc. Then we could see what racers go through to build their cars, test, drive and race. The racer and crew member relationship, and the racer to racer relationship could be shown throughout the show. Sponsors would love this! Just a rough idea of what I’d like to see!

Been a while SIM ... but been watching you when I can. ... If I may comment - Things happen in life that are cyclical, and TV is no different (at least from my perspective of what I've watched over the years). There's always a beginning, middle and end - to tv series (a.k.a. life-cycle), and when it's over, there may be talk about how good the show was, and "Man we should bring it back" ... but the question remains: Why did it end then? ... If it aint broke, ... well you know the rest of that saying. Changes are inevitable, and if you can't adapt change and evolve a tv show WITHOUT losing it's core mission statement, then it's time to end it. The Big Guy left and it changed the show forever (for the worse in my opinion, and I stopped watching) and he had his reasons - of which we may never know, but that's his right. And I'm sure there are those among us - and I - have walked away from life situations which didn't fit within our wheelhouse, or changed into something we didn't sign up for. Funny that I've begun to watch the OG series from the beginning lately, and it's pretty cool to see. Yeah I wish it were back to the original show - and maybe it will, but I doubt it will be with the original "cast", but maybe a different cast. Or maybe not at all. All I know is that what was done, filmed and in the can for those 13 season that I watched, it was great, and I'd rather have that than nothing. I'm not into the NPK series, but I respect it and it's become a smash hit - however if that didn't happen at all, then it leaves only speculation of how would the OG405 show have kept going and evolving - again sticking to it's core mission statement? Out of Town? Yes ... Out of Country? If Possible -but costly ... celebrity racers / appearances? I dunno ... ... ... It'll all remain to be seen. Hope you and all in here are well! - God Bless!

The reason it went downhill was not because of Chief, Shawn, Daddy Dave, Reaper, Doc, Chuck, Etc. It has to do with The Deaths of the Racer During Mega Cash Days & The Racer in South Texas. The viewership went way down after that. The Big Executives Getting Sued! I personally believe that Street Outlaws Made it Three Times Further! It wasn't supposed to be more than 3/4 seasons at best. We see this in many TV series. If Street Outlaws was a brand like WWE. Which is a Multi- Billion Dollar Brand. That is why that brand has keep going year after year. Street Outlaws went Triple-Quadruple Years on a much lesser monetary value. It's just the way TV brands are these days. I do not give any one person the reason why it became so big. All the People Involved made it grow! Big Chief showed hus true colors. He walked out on his Family. He turned and walked for Himself. He didn't do the one thing He claimed Team 405 was. He preached that Team 405 was so successful and the best because of their, We Are Family! We Believe There is No "I" in Team! That's WHT We Win So Much! Well we all knew that when they first went to the track.. The downfall of the show comes down to the producer's sudden death plus Ryan Fellows horrible tragedy and the law suit that followed.

Hoonigan was a sold almost a year before Ken Block died!!! There was a two year contract to keep the same content and was to fade into what it is now.

To finsih it off Warners Brothers in particular bought out Discovery Channel which started a lot of crap and now are letting go of car shows

I think it could have been good if left to be what it started as, people say it would get boring but the NFL has a huge fan base and thry dont reinvent the game every few years. Have the show people loved from the start and sprinkle in some of the different things they wanted. The show became to different from the show we fell in love with.... IMO

It did die, but it shouldn't have. I love Big Chief, but I still like all the street stuff even without him. I still can't believe that no one wants to pick this up and fast. I want both npk and all the street content I can get. I will say, the small tire stuff us just ok. However, if that was all there was, I'd still happily watch. What I really love is the list races and America's fastest. I never tire of it.

I honestly never liked NPK. Only saw the first season didn’t like it. Stopped watching SO completely. But the street shows I wouldn’t miss for the world. The street races is what gets the excitement going. Also the street show is dead without Big Chief. It died when he left. I want the street show back

List racing went away when the leader didn't race over multiple episodes, but birdman in 25th place could race three times a show. We wanted to see the top 10 race, and all we get is back-markers racing.

How can you talk about street outlaws & never mention Chief? That's silly. Though I love NPK...Street Outlaws the show was never the same with Chief stepping away. Only thing close, was Boosted's Mega Cash Days. JJ's Fastest in America, wasnt even truly about the fastest with all the gimmicks, last min changes & venue switches. I just think it pushed away alot of the OG fans. I'm not hating on JJ, it just wasnt the same though. 405's list & vs out of town....thats what I miss.

Hey sim I agree chief was the real deal but the show just wouldn't listen to him he just didn't agree with the direction the show was going and decided to leave a sinking ship when you have a person telling you what's going on and you shoot him down its not going to end well so the show will never come back frim that i don't think a new show will have the same clout as the og show. The show is dead. They never aired the last season of NPK that they filmed and if you watch any of the racer's channels on KZbin, there are no large boom cameras like there use to be, or any camera crews anywhere. Sometimes you'll see 1 camera guy on the starting line which I can only assume is the live stream camera people are talking about. Follow the drivers you like on their social media channels
