I love how they work well as a couple. Considering during the first half of the movie both were against the betrothal, that years later because of Simbas exile, both of them realized that, losing a friend meant losing apart of yourself. I also read online that the reason they got married was because the couple wanted to. And also because they both love each other. Which is evident throughout the movie.
