Fun fact: Will Wright himself recorded the sound. It was supposed to be a placeholder, but they ended up keeping it. IMO it makes the "bzzzt" sound so much funnier, knowing this.

Forest destruction, a police station at the edge of the city, a seaport for such a small city, 20% taxes, transit not financed at 100%... it's clearly the first time you play SimCity 2000!

I'm currently working on an isometric city game. There really isn't people doing it anymore, I'm trying to focus on the simulation aspect with more poliicies/controls instead of graphics. But still a long ways away.

Tip! In beginning, lower your taxes to lowest: 7%, let it roll for 4-5 years, and you'll be rolling in cash. Then you build more. This is how real cities get built.

Thanks! Any other tips?

@@kaneofnodYeah,, you put water on the side of a hill and it doesn't matter if there's any water making a river,, you just slap it onto the side of a hill then put a hydroelectric power plant tile so one complete hydroelectric tile is $500 ....... If you create a "mountain" in the top corner out of 10 by 10, you can fill 99 hydroelectric power plants, have as much power as your city will ever need and there isn't a river above it or below it and you don't ever have to replace it...

Bringing back old memories when my mom bought me and my sister our very first computer and we didn’t have internet or cable yet. Also gotta love the video game logic of people protesting when there’s not even a city hall or anything built to protest at.

I downloaded SimCity 3000, I was shocked to discover you don't have to put power lines directly into a Zone. I still feel I should have downloaded SimCity 5, but steame recently got rid of that, so I'll settle for SimCity 4.
