I've had that same struggle ... thankfully mine was on a semi so I could easily get to it from the top. I feel your pain!!

the top down ones are easier for sure! This one was extra bad. I didn't want to cut it because of all the cables and hoses around it. oh well

I take the washer off the back get the rod off and have a short piece of pipe and then put on the stub and put the washer back on and impact it,then try and beat it off, if not cut the threads off and pierce the center and when the taper shrinks it usually pops or will after you impact it some more. It is one of my least favorite jobs

I had a tie rod end with a tapered shaft like that in a 50 ton rock truck. I put a 20 ton bottle jack under it and stalled it out then still had to hammer around the shaft to get it to pop

The worst is garbage trucks. Heating, air hammering, Using a porta power, cutting. You do what you got to do to get them out. Worst one I had took me 6 hours to remove

yes and yes, I worked on this one for an hour before I even turned on the camera. Anything with a body built over top of the suspension like this is a nightmare to work on.
