I just wanna make a confession here... CELESTIA DESERVES MORE LOVE. So does cadence. (Not that I'm against Luna, I'm against hating Celestia.) She does twice the work Luna does but gets Twice (or more) the hate. She doesn't troll, she plays harmless pranks to make people more relaxed around her. She isn't a stalker, she isn't obsessive of Twi. It's her duty to watch her protege. Plus, if the Lunar Empire rose, the sun would be gone and the world shall freeze. A balance of Sun and Moon are needed.

Eliga Lerton I think Celestia is our Rorschach blot for "authority", and most fans don't have life experiences that let them see anything positive in authority figures in general much less anypony presented as an ultimate authority. So the ambiguities and silences of Celestia in the series are read as proof she's bad in some way. And some of us have had positive experiences. For us, the genius of Nicole's voice acting and the minimal activity she gets in the story is that it evokes and amplifies such experiences.
