Great tutorial Mark. My only comment is that throttle *centred* is conventionally neutral so you can go both up and down 😊. I set throttle and cyclic separately on the 2 axes of my Warthog throttle.

This was very helpful as I was setting up my controls for the helicopter tonight. There was a few more to set up from your 2020 video which was greatly appreciated. Thanks Mark Also I just tried Metas workroom remote desktop on MSFS 2024 with 3 screens on the headset with different left/middle and right views of the the plane. It was a little laggy at times as your streaming it but very promising. Hope you try it yourself it would make a great video. Cheers

Only issue I found is that the twist-grip throttle is not yet working (Collective Y-axis) in the Airbus H125. I'll try it later this evening on other helicopters. 25 years working on oil rigs Worldwide, now I can revisit 😀

I would like to give helicopters a real go and would really appreciate your comments regarding what you consider the best hardware setup for the long term. - In short "best bang for my buck.".I will be celebrating my 90th birthday in April so can't afford to "let the grass grow under my feet".

@@NormanHolden bespoke controls can be very expensive. In terms of value I would recommend a HOTAS setup. The Flight/joystick choice is important. You need one the you can adjust the dampeners and return to centre force. A helicopter cyclic has little force behind it allowing for excellent control. Something like the Virpil warbrd base or similar. Moza FFB AB9 is amazing, but pricey, but would be my choice.

Mark, could you do a vid where you set up a HOTAS throttle and joystick as well as rudder pedals for heli flying ... specifically I have the TM Warthog and WinWing rudder pedals ... I have followed your instructions here separating the T/J/R bindings and assigned to each profile but getting erratic behaviors ... for instance my left rudder pedal works but right one does not ... also the throttle powers the machine upwards but even at idle the machine will not settle to the ground ... odd stuff happening. Love your vids and have learned much, thanks for your contribution to the MSFS world 🙂

Sounds like a centering issue in both cases. Throttle CENTRED should be zero pitch so that you can set both positive and negative pitch (actually usually more positive than negative).

You can use the same trim switch you use on aircraft you will need to bind it to a switch on your yoke.

Certainly a considered purchase" 😀 ) to order the virpil joystick,control box and desk mount ..not sure it delivery takes a while ? ...impressed with the Virpil website too . Gradually. Take off one then the other as you progress.

Hallo! Zumindest die H 135 und H 145 haben selbstverständlich eine Quick-Trim Taste am Knüppel! Der 4-Wege- Trimschalter existiert zwar auch noch, wird aber so gut wie garnicht benutzt Ansonsten herzlichen Dank für dieses Video. Klappt bei mir zwar noch nicht so ganz (ich benutze noch den alten MS Force-Feedback-Stick), aber ich werde es schon noch hinbekommen.

Hi Simhanger. Do you know how is possible to make "power increase steps" smaller in keyboard or controller? In helicopter airbus H125 it is 5% so from zero to 100 % we have only 20 steps and it is deficult to adjust power while landing. I wish it was 2 or 3 percent.

Hi, for us that has a FFB joystick and exclusively fly in VR (which means all the view commands are not needed), how do you set it up? Obviously the trim hat is of no use since trimming is by moving the joystick physically. There should be a magnetic brake button of some sort for this.

@@jonasfogelberg9300 you do need the trim function to take pressure off the cyclic. View commands other than mode to switch internal/external are not needed so just don’t configure these.

I have the Turtle Beach Flight Deck and my helicopter binding do not work all the time. The helicopter will take off, and slowly drift back down and I can not get any height. It's random too. Sometimes it works, other times not. Any ideas? Thought we had to assign Thrust?

Nel video alla fine si vede l'elicottero in hovering ma sta perfettamente fermo è dovuto alla configurazione del joystick corretta o c'e altro da fare perché io ho fatto la parte addestramento e quando l'istruttore ha lasciato i comandi l'elicottero non stava fermo calcola che ho provato con joypad Xbox no joystick quindi non so se dipende dal controller o meno

You need more control via a good joystick in my opinion. Or a bigger deadzone. Holding the helicopter steady requires many small inputs.

Hi Mark, when I had 2020 I followed an old video you made which had seperate throttle and collective axis assigned to my Bravo quadrant. It worked well. I see in this video you do not appear to assign the throttle axis. When I try in 2024 both axis appear to fight against each other like they are doing the same thing. Was there a way to unlink them in the past? I have checked the assigned filters which seems fine. Assists all off. UPDATE I see a section on the GOV switch I will try that> That didnt work, throttle axis still moving the collective up and down not twisting the little throttle part on the end of the collective

@@NormanHolden the collective (with governor on) links the blade angle (lift) and throttle (power) automatically. For a more advanced configuration you can config the throttle separately. More difficult to control unless you have suitable peripherals.
