I currently open my oysters with at flat tip screwdriver due to also I'm usually the one who gathers them from the wild but planning on upgrading to an tire spoon and an oyster splitter . When I do shuck them I like to go from the henge and pry straight up until the abductor peels away from the shell thus flipping top shell longways from end-to-end flipping shell into a bucket . Now since talking about techniques I'm thinking that since the hinge is the key point maybe someone could come up with a device that compresses that hinge thus opening the shell so we can either cut the abductors and take out oyster or cut abductors then separate top shell . Maybe we oyster lovers need to collaborate on something . Actually your device is kind of the fastest due to utilizing the knife the whole process but a little bulky though .
