Dak in the regular season is top tier at everything. You could argue he’s a top 3 qb if it weren’t for him being terrible in the playoffs. Playoff success is very team dependent and unpredictable. If he were to win a SB, he’d be knocking on a hall of fame career already.

Brock Purdy should be ranked 13th and Jordan Love 17th. I mean think about it. We have seen 2 VERY good seasons of Brock Purdy and Love has played 1 year and the first 8 games of the year looked terrible. So we have e seen about 9 games of high level play from Love. And Love was sacked the least amount of times last year. Green Bay has an AMAZING offensive line. That needs to be taken into consideration. Yea Purdy has the best Left Tackle but the rest of the line is very average.

Phil Simms was my favorite QB growing up. The Giants were my favorite team from the time I first started watching football. I’m from Louisiana and always liked the Saints but I LOVED the Giants. In 2022 Joe Burrow should have been 2nd team All Pro not Jalen Hurts. Burrow was simply just better and is a better QB than Hurts is. He was better in college and he is better in the pros. Even though Jalen has a top 3 offensive line that was loaded with All Pros and Pro Bowlers. Burrow has a Pro Bowl left tackle now but didn’t have him in 2022.

And Simms I’m going to continue to lambast you for not putting Jake Browning In your top 40. You have Jarrett Stidham In them and he started o my 2 games in his career. Browning was 4-3 last year against the most difficult schedule imaginable. Last year the Bengals had the hardest schedule of any team since the year 2000. They played 11 playoff teams and 14 of their games were against teams with winning records at the end of the year. If they would have had 1 more win they would have made it to the playoffs. I’m a fan of Chris Simms’ analysis, but the Dak Prescott defense on this pod was borderline ridiculous. Dak is a good quarterback who got less help last season than in previous years, but he has been bad in three straight playoffs - the two playoff losses to SF and the loss to GB last year are three of the worst games I’ve ever seen Dak play. Yes, the 49ers deserve credit for being a very good defense in both of Dallas’ losses, but his 400 yards against GB were some of most meaningless yards I’ve ever seen in a game; it was all garbage time after the Packers dominated almost every snap of meaningful football. Dak is a good, above average starting QB in the NFL, but he is a playoff liability until he starts performing better in big games. He’s had above average offensive lines and receivers every year he’s been in the NFL. He’s solid but a far cry from the dominance of the top QBs in the league. I’m surprised Chris didn’t have a more nuanced discussion on Dak.

Their competition is just like the Cowboys. Why there is so much hate for the Cowboys is that the NFL AND ALL ANALYSTS put them up on a PEDESTAL and talk of how GREAT THEY ARE!!! Each year for the 35 years I’ve been watching. So even if they suck, THEY’re GGGRREEAAT!!! Tony the Tiger great. So when they are a great team we non-analysts wonder if it’s real or not. Never winning the playoffs or even get to them will make people think you suck. Mathew Stafford was seen by every NFL FAN (besides half of the Lions fans) as a bad QB who only has great numbers from garbage clean up plays when the other team already won the game and we’re just coasting to a victory. As soon as he went to another team then All the analysts loved him before he even played a down! Personally I think that Jerry jones is great at the draft but he has ALWAYS UNDERCUT EVERY COACH HE HAS EVER HAD by allowing star players to bypass the coach and go see him. Try that crap with Dan Campbell and he’ll TEAR YOUR KNEE CAPS OFF AND BRAD HOLMES WILL HELP HIM!!

I would take Goff (for attitude alone) over Prescott every day of the week. Dak crumbles when the pressure is on in the meta context of 'situation' - looks flappy on the big occasion. IMO and it just that. Prescott is talented but a bit of a flat track bully - again IMO

@@GKA11111 Interesting question. I like this question. They were drafted in the same year (2016). I think overall, first year for Dak was all about Zeke (again IMO) and it looked good / just realised there's little point in breaking down each year. I think with Dallas the problem lies not with the players but the owner and, thus, who can succeed within that context. In the pocket Goff is a better pressure player than Dak and in the meta context Jarred allows less pressure to get to him SO he would be better. there is a caveat - Dak has a better technique BUT psychologically is weaker. I take Goff ( a SB and Champ game got to). To answer your question ( but not a lot in it )

Chris simms is a joke. I don’t understand. He called Jalen hurts THE MOST overrated QB in football in ‘23. Basically doubling down by saying ANYONE could have did what he did in ‘22. But now praises dude for his play on the field first 12 weeks of the season. And has him in his top 10 QBs. Nobody ever considered hurts THE BEST Qb in football, even in 2022. Dude Simms CJ Stroud did not have the best rookie year. Justin Herbert did!! JUSTIN HERBERT HAD A BETTER ROOKIE YEAR THAN CJ STROUD!! Strouds rookie year is comparable to Baker Mayfield and Mac Jones. I think it was beginners luck with Stroud. I think next year you won’t even be able to put him in the top 10.
