Stunning poems and, especially The Shout, a devastating ending. You can feel the void of 20 years filling faster than the sound of that gun, and the sound of that shout echoing long after in the mind. So moving it is heart breaking.

very powerful reading. From the moment he says the title (The Shout) you know how grave this is going to be... and overwhelming both poems are. (perhaps devasting and heartbreaking are more suitable words, andrew and hopkin, I agree). I would love to see this man acting.

jayjaypen2, I like the way his words are "locked into his staggered verse"as well as the way 'his fluency is delayed". Apologies!

I love the way he pronounces 'poem' because I've got a mate from Wakefield, so not too far from Huddersfield, who says it in the same way as he does - "Poym"

Not the best poet. He's just not in the league of say, John Cooper Clarke. A lot of his poetry style relies on subtleties that are really only communicated on the stage, and even then it's a little stale. His words are locked within his own staggered verse, and his fluency is delayed as a train on rusty tracks. I do respect the loss of his friend.
