When Simon spoke about the quilt, I started crying. I am so impressed that he took notice of that gift and recognized how important it was.

When you put all the sarcasm and rudeness away, Simon Cowell is a pretty astute and sharp business man.

I think that more than that he is smart and humble enough to admit when he made a mistake. Because not all businessmen can admit when they are wrong.

Listening to him speak about Susan Boyle changed my concept of him. I was hating him for years because he always sounded like a bully, and being rude to people. This is the kindest I have ver heard him speak.

I love her beyond understanding...She was REAL. No pretension, nothing fake, no....anything that was not exactly who she was: A simply-dressed, double-chinned, heavy-set middle-aged woman with no attitude or assumption of being 'special.' I love her to this day and watch her premier appearance on Britain's Got Talent over, and over, and over and..... And don't think I'll be stopping anytime soon. Going from THAT to the extreme success Boyle became OVERNIGHT is almost terrifying to contemplate. (Paul Potts is also one of the all ^^ above. Another singer I watch and watch.....

Simon is right, Susan didn't do this because she wanted to be famous, she did it because she wanted to be a singer and share her gift with the world and that is the proper attitude for being a good singer. I'd say that's why Simon has so much love and respect for Susan. Not only is Susan a great singer but she wanted to be a singer for all the right reasons.

That audition fills your soul. We're born with a hunger to see a fellow human being transcend beyond what we think is possible. In this case a frumpy little lady no one has ever heard of sings like an angel to shame the devil. I just watched it again after many years and the result is the same. Tears as I watch reality flipped on it's head for an audience of people just like you and me.

I agree with his comments that far to many people who are "celebrities" nowadays have absolutely no talent and will do anything just to make a buck. @lifesaver3348 I agree 100%. If you watch the original audition video, you see Simon's face completely light up. This man got into music because he loves it, as everyone does. Whatever else you feel, when you work at that level in the music industry, you at least began with this pure love of good music, and you could see that she reawakened that in him. His grin was boyish, happy, he was absolutely enthralled. I think she really moved him, as she has many of us in the world.

Yes. Quilts can actually "tell" a story. It's a shame that the last few generations aren't more interested them. To them, a quilt is something you buy factory made in a store. Those done by hand are done with love. And I can tell you they last longer than factory made ones do.
