Eddie Hearn already mentioned Chris Eubank Jr's requests sometime ago, before Eubank signed with Boxxer. If anyone watched that interview when he mentioned about the conversations he had with Eubank Jr and how he wanted two warm up fights before going into a big fight, Hearn was only willing to do one. So it should not be a surprise to anyone to see this matchup, to be fair I was expecting a worse opponent than Szeremeta so I don't mind the fight. I expect Eubank Jr will probably fight again before the year is out, if not probably in the early part of next year. Then they will probably look to try and make the Canelo fight in May or another big fight in the Summer.

Well maybe Simon should see it from Eubanks perspective then. Losing is pretty bad in boxing, especially regularly, it's bad for business and a boxers stock obviously and as Simon pointed out, when Chris actually did step up and challenged a top fighter he lost on both occasions. So rather than risk yet another defeat at the top, I'd wager Chris has understood that he's probably just not elite level yet good enough to beat and push most "B tier" fighters and his stock is still reasonably high. So instead of losing to a Canelo and possibly badly which would result in people calling for him to retire, instead he'll fight some boxers he feels he can beat, make a sizable purse, maintain his stock and move onto the next. It's not that difficult to understand. When he lost to Liam and got knocked out, Simon and crew were saying he's washed up, looked terrible, was always overrated, should retire yada yada yada. So Chris is at that point of his career where he knows a loss, especially a bad loss, and it's curtains.
