My ranking: Attack of the Clones (you read that right, amazing film) The Empire Strikes Back (duh) Revenge of the Sith (one of the greatest reputations of visual art or visual poetry in film) The Phantom Menace (criminally underrated film - #jarjarrules) Return of the Jedi ( a great ending to a great story) A New Hope (the one that started it all and a very good film indeed ) All six kick ass and form one, that’s right!, one amazing story.

1. Jedi - Empire is a technically better film, but nothing in any other film in the entire franchise touches the emotions of the Vader vs. Luke duel in the Emperors throne room, and Anakin's redemption. Those scenes are the true high point of the entire Star Wars sage, imo. 2. Empire - Easily the best made movie in the series with tons of memorable scenes, and one of the greatest twists in film history. It has the best saber battle as well, though again, I prefer the emotional aspects from Jedi more, which is why I rate it higher on a personal level. 3. Hope/Awakens - I'm sure there are many that will disagree with this one, but I found an equal amount of enjoyment in both the original Star Wars and Force Awakens. Likely because Awakens is a pretty big rehash of ANH, but while that is a negative for some, it isn't for me. Both films introduce you to their characters and their central plot points equally well, and both made me excited to see where the creators would go to next. For that reason alone they are equal films in my eyes, though ANH is obviously much more original. 4. Rogue - It wasn't a necessary story to be told, but I found it overall enjoyable. Admittedly the characters in it, save for the ones we already knew, aren't fleshed out that well, but it had good pacing, and I felt some emotion for the tragedy at the end even with very little connection to these people. Also, it has the most badass Darth Vader scene ever, bar none. 5. Sith - As Simon Pegg said in this video, this wasn't a good film, but it was the best of a bad trilogy, and the connective tissue to the OT made it more interesting than the other prequels overall. Ian Mcdiarmid did a good job in it though, so that was one positive in my eyes. Not much else to say though. This is still a bad film, and I don't know how some people rate this so highly. To each their own though. 6. Phantom - This was a horrendous film, but it rates above Clones for the simple fact that it is horrendous in an almost humorous way, much like Batman and Robin, and can be enjoyable to color commentate while watching drunk or high. It also had a fairly good lightsaber battle, a good musical score, and an interesting, if poorly used character in Darth Maul. Luckily Clone Wars and Rebels brought him back and made him into the engaging villain he has become. Still a trash movie though. 7. Clones - This is not just a bad movie, it is the worst thing a movie can be: BORING! The plot is ridiculous, the acting horribly wooden (especially with Anakin and Padme, our two leads), has really bad cgi, and adds characters that could be interesting like Dooku and Jango Fett, but does little to nothing to flesh them out. While I was happy to see one of my favorite actors ever, Christopher Lee, finally in Star Wars, I was embarrassed that it had to be this giant turd that he was introduced in. Just an all around horrible abomination of film, and admittedly it is very hard for me to get through when watching Star Wars marathons.

I see these people who hate the prequels and its reasonable as they most likely watched the originals a lot more they are more appreciative over those films than they are the prequels, I was someone who grew up with the prequels as well as the originals and for a while I liked them, then I started following internet trends, but then after a while I stopped and looked back and saw videos such as Nostalgia Critics 10 good things of the prequels and unusual suspects 10 things star wars 4-6 did wrong and as a result of that it made me realize the originals have flaws and problems too and now I have a soft spot for those three and just accept them for what they are as after all they could have been worse
@MichaelHolmgaard

+JangoFett220 I completely agree with you. I think many of the "old" fans, see through the flaws in the original trilogy, due to the effect of nostalgia :/
@JangoFett220
@JangoFett220 9 жыл бұрын
Its the same with The Terminator, many hardcore fans believe that the 1st 2 are perfect movies and the later installments don't deserve to exist, granted I agree with it about Salvation but in my opinion Genisys and Rise of the Machines were actually pretty good
@Thobeian
@Thobeian 9 жыл бұрын
+Mickey Holm And people who saw the prequels as children aren't affected by nostalgia in some way? Honestly, the Star Wars saga is not the best movie franchise ever. It's the most POPULAR, especially if Episode 7 is any indicator. Every movie has flaws, even the OT have their flaws, but for every minor flaw in the originals, I can find a couple of big stinking problems in the prequels. I would take Carrie Fischer's phony British accent and Mark Hamill's whining voice over Hayden Christianson's dumb face, Samuel L. Jackson's non-acting, and Natalie Portman's handicapped performance. And dated 70s special effects over bloated cgi that fills every frame with garbage. But I don't hate people that like the prequels, hell I wish I could enjoy them; but I really can't.
@MichaelHolmgaard
@MichaelHolmgaard 8 жыл бұрын
Ian Smith I feel nostalgic about both the originals and the prequels, since I saw both trilogies as a kid. I don't rate one of the trilogies over the other, and I definitely think that there were flaws in the prequels. But I honestly think too many of the old fans see through the many flaws that the originals also had :/
@Alinumberonefan123
@Alinumberonefan123 8 жыл бұрын
+Mickey Holm Fans of the original trilogy probably see through the flaws because it's made up by a lot of great everything else? Like the story of the first two, the character development throughout. I say that the story of the prequals were complicated, confusing. I can admit that the dialogue for the original trilogy wasn't the best, but it definitely had iconic lines throughout, so much so that even people who haven't watched them know star wars quotes. And lastly, the characters. I don't think there's even a comparison here. :l
@ssboooy4153
@ssboooy4153 4 жыл бұрын
I can respect people’s opinions, though I just get upset when anyone born before 90’s just hates the prequels, simply because it isn’t “their preference” of a Star Wars universe. Not saying that may be the reason he does (poor plot, characters may be the reason), but when the prequels are dogged on so hard it’s just unfair

That’s the same reason people are hating the sequels tho
@milaanvigraham8664
@milaanvigraham8664 6 ай бұрын
@@joshmitchell1898People don't like the sequels because the fundamental story makes no sense, desecrates the entire point of the original trilogy, the central character of the original trilogy, and has a connived trajectory just to ensure the first film is setup to motor the 4th exactly, for the sake of nostalgia. *It ruins the main trilogy, instead of just being bad by itself* . This makes it far more egregious than the prequels. As for the criticisms of the prequels - the same applies to the sequels, so it's not like they're any better that way. Acting, it's just as terrible as the prequels. Being a sell out? Just as bad as the first one, or worse. Only VFX is better. Even the music sucks except for Rey's theme.

The Prequel Trilogy's acting totally beat the Original's acting. Everyone in the movie industry agrees with that. In fact majority of people love The Prequel Trilogy but just don't vocalize it as much. Even John Williams said that the Originals were written for children. "We just thought it would be a successful weekend children's show." And John Williams worked VERY closely with George Lucas. And when looking at the Originals, you see it is for children (but it is so magical that we all love it anyways :D ) The Prequel Trilogy had that magic but contained a plot far more complex that appeals to all ages. The children can enjoy it, but the little reasonings behind these things and the sub plots can keep an adult busy for weeks trying to figure out.

+Ted Tedington Please, the prequel acting quality was on par with a bad tevelvision soap opera. The originals didn't contain outstandingly great acting, but at least the actors were having fun, they had charisma, freedome to improvise and express themselves in their scenes. If you take a look at the prequels behind the scenes, Geogrge gave almost no flexibility room to the cast, especially Hayden Christionson. You think Hayden is a bad actor? Nope, he had no freedome. In interviews he would go on to explain how difficult and different it is to work with George because (how he put it) "he's not an actor's director". In the Revenge of the Sith behind the scenes footage there was one part for example in which a scene among many others which contained Anakin and/or one other character talking together in a room or sitting on a couch in a shot-reverse-shot style and George was shown giving Hayden amateur instructions on body movement and where to move, all for a simple dialogue scene.
@observeralternative4769
@observeralternative4769 9 жыл бұрын
+Ted Tedington Not great. But the actors have flexibility and charisma thus making the expireiance for the viewer much more fun to watch them perform. Don't forget that Star Wars was created in fucking 1977 The whole production crew for the film would fail, they didn't understand what the hell they were making. And it turned out that everyone loved the movie and it was a giant success. The prequels however, were made many years after starting in 1999. Acting and the quality should have been far better than the originals, yet they will still dog shit is my point.

1) Empire Strikes Back (No need for explanations as to why it's #1) 2) Revenge of the Sith (You'll scoff at me for having this one as high as it is in which case I say fuck you, ROTS is awesome, and I can actually make a legitimate argument as to why it's a decent film.) 3) A New Hope (It hasn't really aged well, the Death Star has a video game weakness, the Stormtroopers are ridiculous, and the lightsaber duel has emotion in it but is basic as fuck. But ANH is great because it does a phenomenal job of storytelling, and developing its characters. Definitely deserves to be in the top 3.) 4) Return of the Jedi (The sequence with Luke, Vader, and Sidious is amazing, and the movie does its job of wrapping up the story well. However, there are quite a few things in this film that bother me.) 5) Attack of the Clones (The dialogue surrounding the love story is cringe worthy and ridiculous, the final fight is the worst in the saga, the action sequences are average. Good things about AotC? I liked the scene where Shmi dies and Anakin kills the tuskens. I like the opening chase scene with Anakin and Obi-Wan...yep that's about it). 6) Phantom Menace (Jar-Jar isn't even the biggest problem, the biggest problem is that Darth Maul literally has ONLY THREE LINES in the entire film, which sucks because he's a badass. The characters are dull and set up the rest of the rest of the prequel films so badly. Shame.)

+Renegade! Revenge of the Sith is really a great one, maybe the best along with Empire Strikes Back! :o Mostly because of Hayden's performance as Anakin. It's clear that he had matured as an actor, and was much more comfortable with the character he played. And man that last fight, combined with masterful music by John Williams.....SO epic! :D

Honestly my most favorite is Return of the Jedi because of Luke's green lightsaber and it has a deep personal connection to me because of the father and son scenes, it's also my late Dad's favorite Star Wars film.

Tbh I saw the prequels first as they came out when I was of the age to enjoy them. I may or may not have seen the originals before, but I was so young I didn't remember. So watching the prequels at a young age meant the bad acting was completely over my head. Then after the prequels I finally sat down at an age of understanding and watched the originals, yes they are better, but they do have some terribly acted scenes and some pretty bad dialogue. No doubt that they are better though. Watching the prequels again I remember the cool parts and notice the cringe worthy and horrible parts. The cool parts still ignite that child in me, so yeah, love the prequels, just not saying they are better films than the originals.

Same here, the events shown in AotC are relevant to the story and actually moves the story forward, even if the film is pretty dumb and bad. Also, Jar Jar wasn't as annoying. TPM was miserable through and through, it was completely pointless and can be skipped all together. Stupid stuff like C3PO having been built by Anakin and R2D2 being honored by the Queen as if it is a person make me pretend the movie doesn't exist. I also don't understand why everyone think Darth Maul was such a badass villain. Is it because he has face paint that makes him look like a New Jersey Devils fan? IMO, AotC should've been Episode I and the events of RotS should've been depicted in Episode II and Episode III, with Anakin's turn to the dark side being more fleshed out. Preferably, Anakin should've become Darth Vader at the end of EpII but still have his confrontation with Kenobi at the end of EpIII. I would've loved to see an entire movie with a badass human Darth Vader.

He’s always hated them, from the year of 1999 when they first reacted to the Phantom menace with befuddlement and disgust in the sitcom Spaced. Their friend and fellow comedy actor Pete Serafinowicz also didn’t like it and he was in it, as the voice of Darth Maul. Everyone hated the prequels then, and for good reason. I think they have some goofy charm - particularly Phantom Menace, due to it’s less relying so heavily on awful overbearing cgi, which was never Star Wars’ MO; Episode III is the worst for that - and I like it because I love Star Wars, but all three of those films were a mess. That’s no secret lol. And it ain’t no bandwagon thing. This was the standard response all along, from day one. Now you get the odd millennial defending them because they saw them at the age of 4, before they developed critical faculties.

Well, I respect his opinion about the prequels and I would agree with him that Empire is the best Star Wars film out of all six because everyone seems to believe that. And, he was excellent as Scotty and Benji in JJ Abrams's Start Trek and Mission: Impossible films. And, I can't wait to see how he handles Star Trek Beyond. But, I do think he should be a little more, how should I put this, respectful about why he doesn't like the prequels, which is the same era where he guest starred as Dengar on "The Clone Wars". I mean, maybe, I don't realize what I'm saying because maybe Pegg likes the Clone Wars animated TV series because he may think it made up for what he believes are the mistakes the prequels made, since he hasn't said anything bad about Clone Wars. But, still, since he is gonna be in a cameo role as an alien in the new Star Wars movie, he should try to respect those who do like the Prequels and make a long well-thought out, hopefully profanity-free statement about why he doesn't like the prequels. And, he is still a huge Star Wars fan, I don't wanna take that away from him. But, different from Star Wars fans who normally go to fan conventions like Star Wars Celebration, but, hey, no one's perfect in this world. And, different opinions make the world an incredible place, yea know different strokes for different folks. I just hope if I see him, he doesn't disrespect me for my favorite Star Wars movie: The Phantom Menace. Only thing I'll say is one thing I'm sure he and all the other people would agree with me on is that the Greedo shooting first scene, a major mistake.

It really depends on what Simon Pegg meant by "hating the prequels". Did he hate it entirely through all aspects of it including the acting, overuse of CGI, pacing, writing, overall plot/story, etc. Or was he one of those fans that thought the prequels had potential and thought that the overall plot/story was fine, but the execution of it was terrible and felt ultimately let down when The Phantom Menace came out? Therefore they're bad as films but added great concepts to the lore and mythology of Star Wars? It'd be interesting to ask him of his opinion on The Clone Wars TV show, since that takes place during the prequel era, but has considerably better writing, acting, storytelling, etc. than the prequels.

I feel like I'm the only person alive who actually really liked AotC and wasn't a big fan of TESB. Then again, I've never had many conventional opinions, and I primarily like Star Wars because of Anakin Skywalker's character and tragic downfall. Here's my list: 7) *A New Hope* (4.5/10) - Ben Kenobi, Han's initial character, and Darth Vader's introduction were the only things I liked. Princess Leia was so fucking annoying. The Death Star sequence dragged on forever. 6) *The Force Awakens* (5.5/10) - Really enjoyed the cinematography, pacing, and action sequences of the first third of the movie, but the rest felt rushed and relatively uninspired. The final showdown was very underwhelming. The movie was a modern rehash of A New Hope. And I don't even have to mention how pathetic Kylo Ren was. 5) *The Empire Strikes Back* (5.5/10) - Loved Luke's introduction to Yoda, but was mostly a snooze fest the rest of the way. The Luke/Vader confrontation never really moved me as much as the one in RotJ, though I can see why it was so impactful at the time before the knowledge of the prequels. 4) *The Phantom Menace* (6.0/10) - Has some of the most boring parts of the entire saga, but also has some really exciting moments, like Anakin destroying the Trade Federation ship on accident, the pod race, and of course the Darth Maul duel. "Duel of Fates" made things more exciting and dramatic. Qui-Gon Jinn is a badass and my favorite Jedi of the entire series (though Liam Neeson plays a large part in that). Darth Maul was a weak character. 3) *Revenge of the Sith* (6.5/10) - Really wanted to put this lower at first, but I couldn't bring myself. This movie has a few brilliant moments not to, such as a few of those Palpatine manipulating Anakin scenes and him being torn, the moments leading up to and the final few moments of the tragic Obi-Wan/Anakin duel (the rest of the fight dragged on wayyy too long), the homages to the OT, Mace Windu being killed by Palpatine, and, of course, Obi-Wan's brilliance. Obi-Wan Kenobi was never better in the series than in this movie, and he produced great comedy. But the movie had the worst pacing of all the movies (e.g. way too long intro and conclusion, but the middle was rushed more than those two dragged on), had terrible acting and lines, surprisingly weak action sequences, too much of boring dialogue sequences in Coruscant with nothing else going on, and Anakin's character development was way too quick and unrealistic. 2) *Return of the Jedi* (7.5/10) - Not really sure exactly what makes this one so great, but I felt this movie had the best flow, powerful, emotionally moving moments, and just a mix of everything with a very satisfying ending. The moment when Vader keeps looking back and forth between Luke and The Emperor when he's torturing Luke before finally killing The Emperor (before Lucas added that stupid, unnecessary, "Nooooo!") was HANDS DOWN the best moment in the entire series. Also, Admiral Ackbar and his iconic lines are an instant classic. I feel this one had the least amount of flaws out of all of them as well. My only real complaint is that there wasn't enough Yoda. With that being said, besides that ending, there was nothing _particularly_ enthralling about any of the rest of it, which my #1 had (at least for me). 1) *Attack of the Clones* (8.5/10) - Now granted, this movie has obvious flaws, including the awful, forced, and cheesiest romance in cinematic history (although I don't think it was that bad due to the aesthetics and on-screen chemistry), the awkward dialogue, and the CGI-overloaded, shallow action sequences, and I can definitely understand why people hate this movie. But let me try to explain why I love it as briefly as I can. The most obvious, at least to me, is that I feel this movie was easily the best in showing Anakin's development because in TPM, he's just along for the ride, while in RotS, it over-relied on dialogue and was extremely rushed. We see his clear obsessive infatuation with Padmé and how it so clearly clouds his judgment and strongly influences his actions/thoughts. We see him open up so vividly with his tormenting thoughts (in RotS, we mostly see him just ruminating). We see the clear conflict between him and Obi-Wan but also how important the relationship is. We see his incredible skills as a Jedi but also his character flaws that ultimately led to his downfall. And we see him experience the tragic death of his mother. Speaking of that, I personally believe that scene where he admits his deed for killing the Tuscans to Padmé to be the most emotionally moving and my absolute favorite of the entire series. It shows Anakin at his most vulnerable, how much that affected him, and, IMO, the best acting of the prequels. It felt so real to me. Speaking of the acting, I thought Hayden Christensen did a much better job acting in this movie than in RotS, for the most part. Most like to say the opposite because they felt it was way overdone and whiny, but to me, that perfectly encapsulated Anakin's character in that particular stage in his development (a friend suggested to me that it would make sense if he was 15 but not 20, but meh, I feel that's nitpicking). I even feel that his acting made the famous "I don't like sand" line feel more natural to me than it would have normally been. I could go on about how much I like Anakin in this movie, but I need to explain the few other things I liked about the movie. That beginning chase sequence through Coruscant was very thrilling and one of my favorite in the series (and that moment when Anakin jumps from the cruiser was brilliant), and on top of that, while there were a few completely CGI-overdone and frankly unnecessary action sequences, like that droid factory one and all the Jedis in the Geonosis colosseum, there were a few that weren't overloaded with CGI, didn't include much lightsabers, and had a sense of realism/rawness, such as the Obi-Wan/Jango Fett fight and the attempted Geonosis gladiator executions of Anakin, Padmé, and Obi-Wan. And then the final duel, while not the best, had its moments, such as the hilarious while also brilliant in demonstrating Anakin's character further moment when he charges Dooku and he throws him to the side with Force lightning like he's an insignificant bug, and of course Yoda and him dueling with the Force. below are ACTUAL lines from George Lucas' script for Revenge of the Sith (it's online). it's so bad it speaks for itself. if you honestly think it's better than the original trilogy then you're a fucking idiot and simon pegg should slap you across your stupid empty face. ANAKIN: You are so beautiful! PADME: It's only because I'm so in love . . . ANAKIN: No, it's because I'm so in love with you. PADME: So love has blinded you? ANAKIN: Well, that's not exactly what I meant . . . PADME: But it's probably true! They laugh. ANAKIN: I haven't laughed in so long . . . PADME: Neither have I.

4 > 5 > 7 > 6 > R1 > 3 > 2 > 1 > 2.5. Honestly, 5 is probably a stronger overall film than 4, but considering all the trials, tribulations, and mishaps that went into 4, it's incredible that it ended up being as good as it was.

8. Attack of the Clones 7. Phantom Menace 6. Revenge of the Sith 3. Jedi 3. Star Wars 3. TFA 2. Rogue One 1. Empire Think my choices are pretty controversial but I've always enjoyed Jedi more than the original when I watch them and the fact the original is the first doesn't make me rank it higher than Jedi, but I also wouldn't say I'd rank either of them or TFA above each other. I think I probably rank Rogue One higher than the the others because I enjoy the more gritty style, and the grey area of war. And obviously Empire is first.

I wouldn't like to make it out as harsh as that but its kind of true. maybe next time you shouldn't reply with you disagreeing by saying "fuck off", as that statement already makes yourself look like a complete idiot who cant be taken seriously, especially when you continue to come out with such irrelevant crap and can barely construct sentences well. Also if you are not prepared to make valid points or posses the ability to debate in a formal civil way then don't even reply in the first place. Just move on and ignore it because if you don't you just continue to dig yourself a hole fueled by stupidity and end up as an embarrassment.

Good points of the prequels: Ewan McGregor, Ian McDiarmid, lightsaber fights, music Bad points of the prequels: Everything else
@lukenotskywalker2957
@lukenotskywalker2957 8 жыл бұрын
+Vladimir Kool-Aid (The Poor Man) Good points: Originality, Designs, Sounds, Music, Plot, Sense of Mystery, Lightsaber duels, New Ships, Space Battles, Massive ground army's, Ewan McGregor, Ian McDiarmid, Darth Maul, Droids, Podracers, World Building, Alien cultures and sports, Politics, Better understanding of the Jedi Order and the Jedi Code... Could keep going but that about covers it. Bad points.. Less to do with the film and more to do with the audience.. People ignoring all the above great stuff because of Jar Jar or their lack of understanding that the Star Wars Saga is a War story... Negotiations are at the start of any conflict.. Tax and Trade are usually the things that get hit first... They also need to happen for say Smugglers to rise years later... I mean seriously the people that shit talk the prequels haven't got 1 intelligent bone in there bodies, most follow others opinions and act as if they are their own.. Theres about 5 different underlying stories playing out in the Droid vs Gungan fight in Episode 1... Nothing that smart is playing out in the new film or even the originals for that matter. Jar Jar's is promoted with little effort on his part.. Might have something with being around the politically powerful.. Palpatine has manipulated him to lead an attack on the Trade Federation while also manipulating the Trade Federation to attack the local inhabitance. Primitives standing up to technological advancement... Hints that theres more to Jar Jar than just the slapstick goof he presents on the surface as when needed he's quite good at killing things that impede him moving forward.... Jar Jar and Palpatine are from the same planet............. Some people see just a fight between Gungans and Battle Droids others can see the other scenes all playing out underneath... That right there is why they are art.. Not just popcorn flicks.. Although it can be that to.. That is the sign of good art.. But when I hear people bitching I just think how little they understand the film and its messages.. Some of these idiots even make reviews based on their half baked or stolen opinions. One day I might make a video to point out why the films are so good. Simple is fine it worked for the originals they still have their depth but nothing on the scale the prequels gives us.. And what makes them better is that it doesn't force this depth its there for you to find. It doesn't hold your hand and go and this happen and this is what it meant and then this happened.. Nope... Maybe people also missed the fact that Jar Jar is following Palpatine around everywhere by Episode 3... Its subtle. Seriously go look for yourself.. Might even be on Palpatines right side to... Wink wink nudge nudge. Bad points moving forward: Disney, JJ Abrams, lack of imagination, lack of originality, lack of depth, A plot that doesn't match up to the previous ones, lack of context and naming of things, overall retardedness of the plot and the things within the plot, Starkiller Base, weak evil enemy, obnoxious self parodying every 5 minutes... And the biggest crime of all making all the original trilogy characters failures in life and damaging their story arcs from the previous films... Really I could go on all day.. . Oh almost forgot and Simon Pegg the fact he's in it brings its present quality right down.. Seriously isn't he busy currently trying to defend JJ Abrams destroying 2 beloved Sci-Fi franchise now.. Whilst ballings up the new Trek film as well as doing the most embarrassingly poor Scottish accent imaginable... Plus he's friends with Scientologists... Need I say more.

+Dennis Reynolds I don't know why everyone hates so much the prequels. I mean, they are not very good, but in those films Yoda, Anakin and Obi-Wan have their fully development. The technology was better than in the original trilogy and we couldn't see very much of Obi-Wan and Yoda in the original trilogy. Also, I have recently watched again A New Hope and it's very out dated now (yes, I know it was filmed in 1977), the argument isn't good, the personalities of the main characters are annoying and 90% of the movie it's about laser shooting (made with bad technology, we can say nowadays) between Chewbacca, Han solo, Leia and Luke against hundreds of stupid Stormtroopers. However, I also think that the original trilogy is better and the best is The Empire Strikes Back. I am only saying that the prequels are not so bad, especially Revenge of The Sith. It's just my opinion and I hope I didn't hurt anybody!!

Simon Pegg continues shouting his anti-prequel propaganda. He says they're a CGI mess, but the truth is that the prequels used way way more practical effects than the OT. All you have to do is a little bit of research instead of listening to the internet.
@c-hildy
@c-hildy 9 жыл бұрын
You'd be very surprised to learn how much of that is models, miniatures, and matte paintings. Oh, and the aliens in the OT look like obvious fake puppets. And the matte painting backgrounds in the OT also look extremely fake (check out the scene in rotj where han says goodbye to the falcoln).
@Creechling

Chase Hildenbrand " models, miniatures, and matte paintings" Lol those are what practical effects are. Those, and puppets. Star Wars revolutionized the use of practical effects in a grand scale, fantastically, decades before cgi was around.

You seem to be throwing logic to the wind. The prequels couldn't have more practical effects than the OT, when literally the entire OT is made of practical effects and the PT is not. Not a single piece of clone trooper armor was made for the movies, the majority of 2 and 3 are entirely cgi. Episode 1 used a lot of practical effects, sure, but no where near as much as the original movies. The Phantom Menace mixed a lot of models with cgi, whereas the entirety of the orignal trilogy was 100% made from actual things and not a computer. Those are what practical effects are. You say "do some research don't just listen to the internet" and then you link a thread from a forum on the internet. I've watched numerous documentaries and read plenty of books on the practicality of OT as opposed to the overwhelmingly computer generated imagery of the prequels.

1- New Hope(The adventures of the first homosexual droids in the galaxy (C3PO and R2D2) are terrific). 2-Empire Strikes Back(If I watched all films again today, this would probably be my favourite). 3-Rogue One(The first act is really flawed and some of the stuff in the third act is convoluted; still, I don´t know why, but the admiral from the same race of Ackbar was my hero, I loved the guy and the explosion of color in the battle was fantastic). 4- Revenge of the Sith and Return of the Jedi(I rank them in the same place because I remember and care about them equally, wich is not much, but some parts of them were kind of iconic). 5-The phantom menace(I find this one really boring, but not that much insulting(I grew up with the prequels), and over the time some of the dialogue has stuck with me: It´s so bad it makes me laugh"It´s working ! It´s working!" "And THIS is pod racing"). 6-Attack of the Clones( Aids in movie form). Oh fuck I forgot about The force awakens, well that one is really forgettable for me, although Kylo Ren has a lot of potencial, really fun character. And the protagonist is pretty, but she always has the same face and only acts with her eyebrows, and Finn is always soffocated and his story doesn´t make sense and we donp´t know anything about Poe and BB-8 reminds me of my dead cat, that droids has the exact personality my dead cat had. I cried when my dead cat died. She tried to reach our home, but couldn´t make it. She died just outside, she was hit by a car. Thank god nobody is gonna read this. I might be drunk, or not. Rhaegar Targeryen, son of Aerys Targeryen II the mad king, older brother of Daenerys Targeryen and Viserys Targeryen, is the father of Jon Snow. The mother is Lyanna Stark, younger sister of Ned Stark, the guy that raised her son. This makes Jon Snow the heir of the Iron throne, he has a bigger claim than Daenerys, his aunt. Rhaegar needed a third son, bacause his wife Elia had bad health, and he tought he was going to be the father of the three head o the dragons, prophecy and shit, so he went with this hot lady Lyanna Stark, who was supposed to marry Robert Beratheon, who at the end, killled Rhaegar and became King. If Ned would have told him Jon was a Targeryen, Robert probably would have eaten Jon.
