I wish there was stuff like this available at the days when I started playing drums. Today's drummers (from beginners to future pros) are so damn lucky to have all those videos on DVD and KZbin available - and almost for free! * I learned drumming as an autodidact with only less than 10 hours of a teacher's instructions. Mostly I learned simply by trying to play to the music of my favorite bands with all the good drummers and often trying to write it down to musical notation - first Song written down was Mother's Finest, Secret Service from One Mother to another. Used a Walkman with different recorded 90 minutes audio tapes carrying with me. * Zappa, Steve Morse, Toto, Camel, Mahavishnu Orchestra plus hundreds of others from different genres and of course Simon Phillips Protocol from the beginning. Playing to music from different bands is the best way to learn playing drums!

Big debt of gratitude to DarWin for allowing "behind-the-music" access to this project and sharing here on YT. Even bigger debt of gratitude to Simon for opening up and showing us some of his incredible technique and allowing access into his thought process/decision making that went into the creative process for these tunes.

This is a great EP with some fabulous drumming from SP ! That old Swish Knocker sounds amazing,I've got one of the re-issued/lighter SK's which sounds great but I do wish Zildjian would remake them to the original spec, heavy, clangy, metallic ping sound .... Glorious !!!
