Amazing video and videos. Probably all trips are bucket lists 🙂. If you make a black panther trip, I would be interested. I made a polar bear trip last year, same ship you used this year, and will make a jaguar trip this year.

It's long been my dream to visit all 7 continents. Svalbard is high on there. Hurtigruten has a cruise that goes to the Falklands, South Georgia and the Palmer Peninsula. Australia and New Zealand will be done someday, though I don't know where specifically.

Wow, what a fantastic trip! I would love to go to Alaska, Yellowknife, or Manitoba to photograph the Northern lights. I also would like to return to NB to do justice to the beautiful white birch trees I met there now that I have a decent camera. Fantastic footage and shots! I appreciate the information about the history, ecosystem, and wildlife.

Simon and Thomas are two of my favorite photographers on KZbin. Such a great pleasure to see how each of them shared their videos, giving us two distinct perspectives on how they see the world, and tell the story in their own way. Both videos are equally stunning! After watching the videos, Svalbard will be added to many photographers' bucket lists I am sure.

Excellent video and your introduction to Svalbard was excellent. I had watched numerous videos by photographers, but collectively I learned extremely little about that location as the photographers didn't say much about it. I did look up info about that location. But, your quick introduction was very interesting and packing with just the right amount of information. AS always, your photography is great. Thanks for sharing.

Would really like to see a video on how you managed to get these shots without completely blowing out the data from the intense white EVERYWHERE. I’ve seen your video about the topic, but I feel like this is an *extreme* example that would take a lot of consideration and preparation.

Hi Simon, what an amazing experience you had, great photos and amazing Drone footage, and i loved the video quality so crisp and clear. Loved the Glaciers, the Penguin's, the Birds, the Fox. And DRUM ROLL THE POLAR BEAR. Great moment when the Polar Bear had it's mouth opened. I also learned more about Polar Bears that i didn't know. Thank you very much for sharing your dream and passion with us viewers, congratulations Simon 👏

Velkommen til Norge Simon. I am a Nova Scotian living in southern Norway and a trip to Svalbard is on our list. I shoot more landscape than wildlife but enjoy both. We have done many trips around the mountains of Norway and last year we visited the Lofoten Islands. Norway is full of beautiful sights and golden hour can last for hours. I have been to many places on this planet but the light in Norway is something special.

You can actually defend yourself against a polar bear with a two-by-four. Especially if you are a mad Russian. Apparently, polar bears don't like being beaten with two-by-fours by small hominids shouting insults at them.

Incredible! I feel like a trip to Svalbard is so risky because you may not even see the bears, or they can be too far off for photos. I think that's why so many people are going to Churchill now to see them instead. But seeing them on the ice like this is just so magical that I can see why some people take the risk and go to Svalbard

That Walrus encounter at 6:23 is spectacular! There is actually some nice soft direct light, and the Walrus is out on the ice by herself, so you can get clean still images without parts of other Walruses cluttering up the composition. What a great opportunity!

Fantastic images and video Simon. I was waiting for this having seen Thomas' and Jonas' videos. Very pleased for you that you got to capture the bears. It was a lifelong desire of mine to visit Spitzbergen as I was extremely interested in polar exploration as a child. I finally made it there in 2005 and also got to visit the town of Ny-Ålesund. We also had our best polar bear experience with a mother and 2 cubs after midnight next to the ship. I also got to kayak at the face of glaciers through the brash ice. I'd like to go back now with better camera gear and technique. Again some fantastic shots and I am sure you have many more on that hard drive. Cheers

Hello, Simon! I have a question for you. My grandmother recently gifted me her old Canon 1000D DSLR because she never used it anymore. I want to get into wildlife photography, but I've found that I don't quite have the necessary equipment. The camera has a 10.1MP crop sensor and the largest lens it came with was a canon 55-250mm. Though I will probably do plenty of practicing before purchasing any new items for this new hobby of mine, I need some advice on what would be best to get for wildlife photography in my situation: a new camera body that can take photos with more megapixels, or a lens that can zoom in farther (like a 400mm or 500mm one). Getting a better body would mean that all my photo's, including my non-wildlife ones, would profit, and I could afford more cropping for wildlife photography, but a telephoto lens would still make wildlife photography easier. I was hoping you might have some advice for me! Also, I want to thank you for all your great content! You've really inspired me to get into photography and helped me a lot in getting to know my camera and how to use it!

That camera was in the very beginning if digital. buying a newer one, even a used one made in the last 5 years, would be a good upgrade.
