In this video, I am in the garage to finally fix my poor cedar strip canoe. Whilst on a canoe trip in Scotland, I cracked the hull during a white water descent - I was able to do a temporary repair on the waters edge, enough to get me to the end, but in this video, I will be completing a full permanent repair.
After cutting out the cracked and splintered strips of cedar, I reshape the existing wood to accept new strips which are glued in place. I also do some repairs to three other cracks that were sustained in the same impact.
Once cured and sanded, the time consuming process of re-fibreglassing and varnishing the hull takes place to restore the boat to (almost) its former glory.
She lives to explore another day.
I hope you enjoy the video.
Thanks for watching.
